"So, I ask, what drives you? How do you justify a small, insignificant existence? I'm no psychiatrist, but I would imagine that most people who truly realize their own worthlessness would attempt to kill themselves." There are upwards of 6 billions people on this planet and unknown numbers circling the billions of stars in the billions of galaxies in the universe. God loves all of us equally or the universe ignores all of us completely, which is also equally. Because each existence is e

Sorry, way off topic, but I'm curious: why are planets entirely covered by water not really possible, particulary if its geologically inactive? They've certainly been a staple of sf for a long time, and in real life isn't Europa covered by a "world" ocean? Ok the surface is frozen and technically its a moon not a planet, but, it certainly suggests that such a body would be possible. On less sure ground, I seem to remember watching a documentary about the formation of the solar system which indic
Thanks for the replies! My bad! I'd forgotten about the Altarian super-ability. I like the idea of the super-abilities and don't really have a problem with this one, but I think the text could do with a little tweaking, and the "Yes/No" buttons should go, eliminating any suggestion that I have a choice in the matter. I don't actually think its that unrealistic a proposition, apart from the time-frame involved (for a plausible account of how this might happen, albeit over a longer time-f
was playing a game as the Torians against the Korath, Altarians, and Yor. The Korath declared war on the Altarians and I received a message asking whether I wanted to declare war on the Korath as the Altarians shared my ethical alignment (although I wasn't allied to them). I didn't and said no, to be told I had declared war on the Korath (this also ignored that I had become a republic, so should have had to vote on declaring war). Reloaded, tried again, same thing. Retried, this time press
OOps! My bad! When trying to register, I had "Game Subscription" in the product box which I assumed was correct as it's a game and I was subscribing to it. However, if you scroll down the list there is indeed a Dark Avatar Expansion Pack entry on the list. (@Alan) if you select this and then update serial, it works, or at least it did for me... best vince
Hi! Thanks for the response! The problem (for me) is when I try to register the serial number I received, it tells me that the serial number is invalid, and won't let me install the game. Thanks anyway vince
I have the same problem as Alan. My SDC build is 139 which I believe is the most up to date version. Any advice would be helpful. thanks vince
I rather liked the morale system in botf, where each of the races had their own morale system, so klingons, for instance, disliked making treaties with other races, but HATED breaking them, while the Cardassians could make or break treaties pretty much with impunity. The system was a little inflexible in that you couldn't customise the races, but you could get round this by choosing your values as part of the customisation process: imperial (klingon); fascist (cardassian); corporate (ferengi); r
Minor technical problem. I now have the email and the install button on sdc, but when I try to register DA, I'm told the serial number (copy/pasted from the email) is invalid and it won't let me download. Am I doing something incredibly stupid (probable) or is this just a glitch? If the latter, is there anything I can do now, or just wait and contact sales support tomorrow after 9am EST? thanks in advance vince
Why do MOO4 when you can do GalCiv3? There's really not anything that you could do with MOO4 that you can't do with GalCiv3 [except call the aliens Klackon, Sakkra, etc., admittedly, but that doesn't stop you having similar races: bugs, lizards, fish, rocks, cats, etc (including something like the ithkul/aliens from the aliens movies would be pretty cool - and hopefully not too likely to draw a lawsuit)as all these races are staples of the science fiction genre, so Atari would have a hard time j
My vote is also yes. As for events, how about a civil war? The largest empire (whether player or AI), in terms of military rating, splits into two factions (one good, one evil - neutral evaporates) and fights to the death. Other powers could intervene openly or join a non-intervention pact, where covert intervention would run the risk of detection and a significant diplomatic penalty. The schism would be 50:50 based on planet value as measured by cumulative social expenditure and milit
@ jocmeister not sure if this answers your issue, but i have reproduced ai (normal) behaviour on a small map. on turn1 reset your research spending to 50%. Research xeno research. Purchase a scout. Use survey ship to scout systems (with planets, if i have stellar cartography). Settle poor in-system planet, purchase whatever level of factory is available, set it to build a starport, then a lab. Set home world to build (not purchase) a factory, then a lab. end turn. launch scout and se
