Yes except the one related to battery power as this is a desktop. I can flip those on. Likely will not change anything. By the way the same sort of problem does not happen with wallpaper engine using the same videos in a play list. So I do not think it’s the videos or underlying graphics dngine.
So resuming from sleep it is speeding up the video a bit. I recall it ever acting this way until version 11. It is definitely effected by windows sleep/resume. Maybe something for your engineers to look at? This only happens with video files. Dream animations are not effected.
The videos do play fine until sleep occurs. I have not changed many options from the defaults except to mute the sound.
I went through that process one more time. It removed all of my playlists by the way. I recreated a couple and will see if the problem still happens.
I have done that multiple times. The problem still happens.
Windows 11. It used to work fine say a few months ago. Too much has changed to pinpoint it. I would say it started doing this since version 11.
Deskscapes 1q.02 running on windows 11 is installed. I am running a playlist of videos. The playlist works fine. The PC sleeps and the video will stutter or freeze completely after resume from sleep. Moved to Deskscape area.
I know about the right click on the desktop. You need multiple clicks to get there in windows 11. Right click and then left click on show more options. Anyway, the question is about the system tray. Clearly the software has an option for it that does not seem to quite work right.
Yes there has definitely been system tray issues in windows 11. There are various "workarounds" that don't seem to do anything such as deleting the icon cache and a couple of registry entries. Also, if your explorer.exe crashes and restarts you may lose icons in the system tray. However, I think Windows 11 has become more stable in this area. I can't say exactly at what point. But I think even at 23H2 it was stable. Thank for for forwarding the issue. I
Windows 11 Pro 22631.3085
No other application is having this problem just deskscapes.
When I boot the PC (either desktop or laptop), there is no system tray icon for deskscapes 11 despite the option being checked on. If I open settings after reboot and uncheck/check the option for system tray I see a system tray icon. But when I reboot it goes away again.
Also, it has nothing to do with the file explorer. Explorer.exe is the windows shell. Fences is a shell extension.
You don't seem to be listening to me. It works 99.99 percent of the time and then goes nuts. It has nothing to do with windows 11. scans run clean. Up to you whether you want to take an obvious bug in your product seriously or not. Right now this is not helpful. Close the thread.
That us exactly what I did and it works find now. Let me make a few points and then you can close this if you want: 1) yes I am using nothing but basic settings including changing next to nothing in fences. I turn off the option to always show fence groups at boot and I sort the three default fence groups by name. 2) my Norton 360 settings are the basic settings. I would not know what to change for explorer.exe. 3) This has been goi
With all due respect, what setting are you talking about? Norton 360 is set to mainly defaults. I am sure I never did anything to seting particular to explorer.exe. In fact, the person in the thread makes the valid point that you would not want to alter explorer.exe settings as it opens your PC up to hackers So what is th Stardock recommended fix? This sort of issue obviously happens to other users? Crippling aantivirus does not seem like a good fix.
Windows 11 23H2 22631.2861 Fences 5.04 Norton 360 It's a highly intermittent problem. I am sure I seen it with Fences version 4 as well.
Can someone explain why fences intermittently causes crashes in windows explorer.exe? It's definitely a fences issue as once its uninstalled the problem goes away. The "fix" is to uninstall fences and remove its setting. Then reinstall fences. This is o windows 11 23H2 with all up to date patches. I have seen this problem before even in windows 10 and with older fences versions. Does fences just corrupt it's settings now and then. Can anything be done
