If you think it's lame then you probably dont really know what it is. It was never actually anything new at all...but the integration of all the pieces they already had. Database access, Win32 API, Web, OLE etc...all bundled into one common model. .NET is mostly a developer tool....but they chose to also market it as a user functionality (ie the New functionality users gain from applications being easily integrated) buzz word as well. It's one of those things that wa

Martin, i LOVE desktopX, i mean completely LOVE it. Was using it since the very first beta, i think it started at .4? I made a couple of themes and objects for it a while back....and I had alot of fun doing it. The problem back then was that for all the time I spent doing it...in the end it was only minmally useful. All the good stuff was only able to be done with DXToys, which unfortunately had lots of bugs, and then got way too all-inclusive. (I Still say he should have broken i
"We expect this situation to be temporary (i.e. a couple of days)." Jeeeeze people. Read that! A couple of days! I'm very sorry that they decided they have to take a couple days off to put more money into a server that allows YOU to download skins for software that is mostly likely PIRATED, or NOT YET PAID FOR.
Took a look at this briefly because i use a similar product. "Secure Notes Organizer" www.secureaction.com. I dont like this progam as much as SNO. About the only feature i prefer is that it uses real icons, rather than a pre-set selection of included icons.
Stardock suxxors! I had no choice but to answer positive....god knows I hawk Stardock to friends and co-workers all the time. They always say "sounds cool, gimme a copy"....at which time i give them the web address
I'm a skinning moron......but I once tried with a much earlier version of SkinStudio. It was actually pretty easy....I got about 50% done with a skin, but life beckoned and I had to answer.
Here's the best reason to use it: The memory footprint of it, is smaller than ICQ by itself. Nevermind running 3 or 4 messangers. Plus it has lots of features that the others dont give you.....and no banner ads.

Here's a few things that can help improve your system performance in WindowsXP (especially on lower-end hardware). And these are the first tweaks I make if i reload my system. #1. Relocating the PAGEFILE. This one is only useful if you have a second PHYSICAL harddrive. Doing this with a second partition on the same harddrive may actually decrease performance. The page file is used as memory when you have no more physical memory. This is what "virtual memory" is. It p
Question: Does this suite come with colors other than the shown blue? I REALLY like this set of icons, and I normally hate mass-icon replacement.....but everyone always makes their icons in shades of blue....and blue does not match my system at all. If there's alternate color schemes than I will send my $8 today.
Try the Subterfuge WindowBlinds skin. I think it'll make your descision clear, as it uses alot of GREAT functionality. When you load it, use the sub-style Subterfuge Pro and check out all the buttons.
Orange....dont by WindowBlinds by itself....subscribe to the full Object Desktop. You'll be glad you did for the extra $15
The most impressive part is that MICROSOFT put out a WindowBlinds skin, superceding their own "Visual Styles". Way to go Stardock!
I guess the question is if Stardock could take the 10%-20% loss of customers. (or maybe they'd just upgrade for stardock!) But i say if it helps reduce development time, to allow more advanced and stable features on Windows2k/XP then do it for the 80% of customers, especially since it's likely that all NEW stardock customers will be running one of those 2.
If possible, could it be changed so that if I dont have section X showing in the library, that items from section X do not show up in Newest Additions? Would be very cool
Right on. One thing you can sure say about Microsoft, is that they have pretty high standards for their logos and graces. Its one of the few "brandings" that actually means something.
wow....if theres anyone's brain i ever wanted to pick about making better graphics for DX...its yours. I'd love to have them.
I've been using it for about 2 months now and it kicks ass!!! Only short-comming of it is the lack of file transfer support which should be implmented sometime in the summer.
its very nice....but at about 45% processor usage on my P3-500 its hardly worth it
