I do not see linux as a gaming platform, because it simply isnt good at it
Why isn't it good at it?
really clever dev team to get loads of funding to create a better way to implement the 3D graphics in games.
What? OpenGL?

I think an easy solution from both sides would be to increase the max progression in your "core skills" so that bestial rage for example has 7-8 levels instead of 5. This would allow for players to either become experts at one or two abilityor branch out and a jack of all trades. Optimally those 7-8 levels should include an extra milestone special effect (area damage of regulus' wings on max skill level) at the last level (so one in 5 and one in 8) so it makes sense to progress in the middle
However, if the coders have programmed themselves into a corner, the effort to port a game can be huge and I fully understand that the Linux gaming market is too small for such efforts.
That is true, although the devs might be able to alleviate that if they help with wine maintenance.
I have some ideas to propose later, but I would like to know what the Dev's take is on this. What kind of capability for change in General's gameplay do we have? Small (tweak numbers here and there), Medium (Add, Remove, Modify or Replace abilities with completely new ones, change the items the generals can buy etc) or Large (Change gameplay stuff, like allow the minions to have abilities, set up waypoints etc)? EDIT: Is what we're seeing even close to what you have in mind for the fi
This is in the Feedback roundup but I don't know how valid it is. I've managed to connect to games even after I couldn't connect to others, without having to restart.
I noticed that the second time I wanted to use an achievement item. Clicking on it and then the ok on the warning box, marked the item as bought, but the other items were not "greyed out". That meant I could keep buyng them. Initially I thought this was a bug as it would allow me to use more than one of them. But then I noticed that they didn't appear in the rightmost slot at all. Apparently to equip one, you need to click on that item again once it's been bought (and marked). This is n
I think you're making things look too grim on the support side. Problems like missing libraries are almost never encountered and when they are the solutions are found and publicized immediately. The hacking and distros behaving differently does not really apply as all use the same standarized filesystem and it's a rare case that the way a distro is made will have any effect on the closed source program if you code it right (ie, don't hardlink to speicific files in a specific directory). You'r
You mean for the Demigods? If so I agree that it needs work. At the moment I find it a bit cheesy. Should be a bit more gritty and at least tell us why a character is a demigod in the first place.
I think this is all fluff that is not really important for the multiplayer beta. I'd think that such things would exist in the end version (possibly we'll get to see them as we get closer to release)
I still have this. I need to buy the same item for the same DG in each game
From my experience playing against it with other players, the rook is quite balanced. Spartan consider that he may not be your playstyle after all. It seems that Regulus is more close to your rhythm. Thing is, from a balance perspective we need solid arguments to show why a DG is not powerful enough and that can come only through extensive multiplayer. Unfortunately the impression from reading your comments is that you are simply not experienced enough.
Well, as long as something happens about after thursday I'd be happy. Either a forced kick or at least allowing us to continue playing and live with the funkiness
Stungank teams are focused on killing enemy warlords so more likely they are ignoring their creeps. Just play a creep killing build, focus on flag grabbing and boost your creeps. From my experience tough creep play always win over buffed gank play.
Generally people tend to over-estimate the windows gamer market and underestimate the GNU/Linux market. Most windows users are not gamers and most games are not made for windows. GNU/Linux has estimates from 1%-5% of the PC market. That's a few million people, of these millions, say a couple of hundred thousands are also gamers. Trust you me, that these gamers will reward developers who look to their side in order to provide an incentive to keep doing so.
Ah, and there-in lies
I put a relevant reply to the diversity etc on the DG VS DotA thread
or a bunch of enemies if he's raging. So a good strategy for him might actually be killing enemy demigods by abusing their creep waves. You got it right there. I never bother with the DGs and mainly run away on sight. The exception to this is when a DG is running away wounded or is in the middle of a fight with another of my team. Then I just run behind him and assist. And due to the UB speed boosts I put on, they rarely escape. But the UB is just
So what happens on a desnc on my opponents game? Is my character being played by a bot?
I never had any problem with level 1 creeps. Bestial Rage and that little death explosion slaughter them in no time. The difference between regulus attack and the beasts is that the beast does mass damage with the rage. This is much more powerful on creeps. Plus, the damage increases as you go up in level and damage as its a percentage. At the end levels the bestial rage allows you to do about 300 more damage per swing!
It seems that this message does not actually affect the running game other than annoy the hell out of the players. Is it possible to make it so that a player can tick a checkbox on the notification saying "do not show this message again" or something? That would take care at least of this annoying bug.
Back to the original topic. I just started playing the UB and I'm already liking it. It certainly does not play like a front-line Demigod-smasher but it also does not suck in any way.
I'm not saying you should do that but if someone figures the game is a lost cause, they're going to quit anyway and be replaced by a bot already.
TheBigOne, that is why I suggested it shows the number of minutes the game's been running. If it's more than 10-20 minutes most would avoid it but the first 10 mins is barely a few levels. Granted not choosing your DG still sucks but at least you can expect that
Hahaha, that was pretty good Then gimme karma! [e digicons]:erk:[/e]
Perhaps as an optional game mode but I wouldn't like it for default
What do you mean by "online shooters"? FPS? And again, if someone is leaving the game to avoid defeat, then they are in effect conceding. Where's the problem?
