I think Omenowl's syuggestion is the best here. Let me reiterate it
Makes mines into minefields and allow the player upgrade them. This way it is similar to the st

Just to join my voice here and say that I too bought and installed Entrenchment (along with the normal game) without realizing it's a beta. I only figured it out from the loading screen. Fortunately for me there haven't been many bugs, Starbases and mines seem to work and game does not crash. It does feel a bit unbalanced though (mainly because I'm a newb and I keep getting my arse kicked by 5 AIs together) I'll probably uninstall and reinstall in order to play a beta-less game. Let's
I don't see how a sniping character should have a "thing" about taking down fortifications. I would expect that from the Rock (who does have specific skills to that extent) but not from Regulus. And again, I'm not talking about the late game
Just a head's up that we are reading through the comments and taking ideas presented here. They may not manifest themselves in the game exactly as mentioned here but I think you'll be able to see how the discussions influenced how generals have been implemented in upcoming builds.
But it would be still nice to know how much of a change we can have, that way we can align our suggestions accordingly.
Why waste manhours programming for an OS that comparatively few people use?
It depends on if the extra development cost (which I believe that if coded directly for OpenGL instead of DirectX would be minimal aside from the initial training costs of the devs) would be less than the profit made from selling to the number of Linux gamers that exist
Woot! Can't wait, especially for a stable MP experience :) Cheers for keeping us in the loop
I've basically stopped playing the game until the patch comes out. It's just an exercise in aggravation at this point. At least I got to discover Sins of a solar empire in the meantime so I check that out as I wait :)
Stardock is mainly a Windows applications and customization company, not a games company.
GPG on the other hand is a games company ;)
Alright, it seems that I can't convince anyone with this concern. I'll playtest more and see if a siege regulus is problematic
Don't forget that we are not seeing the full game yet. I'm guessing there are still abilities and stuff that we may not be seeing
No, because both are equally intuitive
GNU/Linux is just as intuitive to someone who is not used a lot to windows. For someone who is used it may get a bit to get used to the different style but once you get used to it, it works just as well. PS: The RTS games are not intuitive. Otherwise they wouldn't need tutorial scenarios to teach you the game. Now imagine you were playing blizzard RTS for a decade and one day uou decide to play C&C and as an expert of R
I keep refreshing impulse but I don't see no patch :(
I am saying that certain features do not work as expected
Who said it's expected? I can find a lot of things that are expected in GNU/Linux and do not work in Windows.
There is no "perspective" in attepting to drag an icon from one location or another. Either it works or it does not work.
The problem is that you're assuming this is a big problem and that the things that bug you are going to bug everyone. That's the subjective part. <p
Your analogy doesn't even apply because Linux isn't a brand new thing that's never been seen before. It's an OS.
My analogy still works because they're all games, and they were games that were different from the other classic games that existed before them. This is actually a big problem of the current day where a game costs millions to develop. This is why you see almost no new types unless you're Will Wright or you're building on something that you know has a market (
I'm pointing at something and you're looking at my finger... I was pointing out that BEFORE all these games I mentioned, this type of gameplay did not exist! By your logic, all those games should have failed.
Nobody's going to play that game. Like it or not, Microsoft as the market leader in OS sets the standards for the UI design. If you want people to turn to another OS, making it more difficult to use negates any possible advantage it may have over Windows.
People keep talking about the "normal user" as if you know what's in everyone's heads. Truth is that most people do not switch not because of the difficulty of doing so, but because they are not aware of it or how easy
You have yet to explain why you think this behavior is desireable or at least give some sort of excuse for this behavior. Why should I have to explain anything?! GNU/Linux is not Windows. Nor will it ever be. People will not use it because it looks and acts like Microsoft decided Desktop Environments should act. It will act as the people who actually work on it have found out works best and those who don't like one method always have many other choices (Ha
Almost every Dg can easily take down towers late game Which is why I was talking about mid-game
I think a flag that would give you a huge area of no fog of war would be cool.
We already have an item for that
As for the new changes its never too late to start, this is why 80% of games miss their original release date. This can also horribly backfire. eg Daikatana, Spore etc
I agree with Ke5trel and mcmjon: Spikes should not be an option. If a team of 5 different warlords kills you, then that it good teamwork mostly because it needs a good coordination to have one fireball, one snipe, one spit etc at various distances and at the right time. With Regulus specifically it's the snipe that's the problem, mostly because all of them can be doing their own thing and then snipe from wherever they are. It's all theoretical at the moment but once the netcode is fixed, we s
Cobra1, you basically display that you don't know GNU/Linux and you're trying to do things as if it was windows. It's not. Most of your rant is simply that, an opionated rant because you don't get it. You're hardly pointing out any objective flaw other than saying "It won't work" and "It will never happen" and "Really, it sucks, only geeks use Linux". Half the problem is justifying porting it to a platform that, despite all it has to offer, never seems t
The issue is specifically speed boosting items and these items stacking. The default speeds of the heroes are fairly good.
Well this is really a different subject. Lets not take it up in this thread
A regulus play who just runs around plinking defenses is going to get steamrolled by other demigods. This is totally untrue. Taking down defenses while killing the creeps on the other side with mine when they arrive can be very lucrative and gives a nice amount of xp. This money can be used to upgrade your creeps and due to lack of defences start hitting the opponent's. In a recent game I played at the mid game, all both regulus' did on both side was attac
Because this is what basically seems to happen. He extends his range and then goes around destroying defences without as much as a sweat. I understand that he's supposed to be long ranged but he is becoming the best siege machine in the game. Not only that but towers give a nice amount of money on destruction, making him rich in the process. Perhaps this can be fixed if there is a castle upgrade that allows you to extend the range of your towers? This way if you see Regulus going for
