SO from the screenshot.. I can see they have not included their previously used in XP blurring engine. But it does help for the future.

Aero != DWM. In Windows 8 DWM is the primary system used to process and render all UI elements on Windows 8. Everything that has come out of microsoft has been written either in WPF or DirectUI which is then tied into DWM for acceleration and composition. This is a change because previously DirectUI could stand on it's own without DWM. As for the older GDI calls they are crippled and once again not hardware accelerated (a problem in windows vista but fixed in 7 but
[quote who="moshi" reply="55" id="3235066"]you sure noticed how easy the uninstall was. some Windows desktop apps on the other hand are very hard to get rid off. some desktop app installers even install additional software such as toolbars or even spyware and troyans. such things aren't as likely to happen in a (well maintained) app store. but at least in Windows 8 you can still install software from any source you like. It is a little known fact that during the development of windows xp. Stardock had a hand or at least very close ties with the development of the original whistler themeing engine. Now if memory serves Microsoft decided to revise that engine into something completely proprietary but still kept close ties with stardock which is why there was a "remarkable similarity" to the theme format. With Windowblinds XP aka WB3 on windows xp they were able to hook into uxtheme and us
After feather testing... that is if i can learn to spell... lol anyway It seems that windowblinds when running in vista uses vista's api's or native skining engine like it does on xp.. I have come to this conclusion because manualy stopping dwm.exe seems to kill all transparency on all wb5 perpixle skins.. Thats how it is able to run and not use more memory then windows does to skin windows.. The per pixel has been offloaded to dwm thats why the aero minimizing and maximizing effects and 3dflip
I have the same problem but it seemed to work when switching to a windowblinds skin from window aero but from windows classic to a windowblinds skin it doesnt do perpixle the whole reason i spent 20 bucks was because i couldnt spend 100 on new ram and aero uses 20 to 35 megs of ram more then without it...
