If it is just the DesktopX runtime cilent you will not be able to update it through Impulse as it is not setup to be used with Impulse. Impulse is incorrectly identifying an update for it.

The version of the game you download from Impulse Anywhere will be the most up to date version. As long as you can copy the installer, the archive files, and the Impulse installer to your home PC you should be good to go. For future updates, you need to re-download the entire game from Impulse Anywhere as standalone patches are not available.

You should not have to install Impulse on the university PC. You just need to use the university PC to download the files from Impulse Anywhere. Once you have the files downloaded, copy them to your detination PC. This is the PC you will need to install Impulse on. Once Impulse is installed, you can run the installer for the game that you downloaded from Impulse Anywhere. If the destination PC is a university PC that is locked down, you might then be stuck.

From within Impulse: -Click the blue menu button in the upper left -Choose 'Preferences...' -Click the 'Reset Data' button -Close impulse and relaunch it. You may notice a long update time, which is normal as it is rebuilding the deleted info.

If you do not have access to the internet on the destination PC, you can use Impulse Anywhere to download the most current version of the game and then copy that to your PC for install. http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/Default.aspx As long as you can download files through a web browser and save them to something portable, this should help you.
