I dunno, I kinda like how starbases are pretty damn powerful now. Now granted, with the new low damage output of ships, they should be adjusted to maybe 2/2/2 offense and 2/2/2 defense now or something., or at least have drone/tiny fighters to defend them. I like the idea of starbases to actually take a beating before being destroyed. I always like to think of Starbases like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. When the Cardassians had it, it was riddled with weapons a

The problem I have with cash infusions and things ESPECIALLY at the start is that they just mass buy colony ships. 1. They have 15 worlds at turn 50. They are pumping out 2 or 2.5 pop colony ships. They can't produce that many colonist, there just isn't any possible way. 2. They don't have the shipyard manufacturing for that, so they would have to be purchasing them. 3. They don't have the administrators for that. I mean, unless literally every citizen they

Some of these are bugs, some are features that may have been removed, as well as odd things: 1. Multiplayer - Custom Races Don't Work 2. Multiplayer - Galactic Events Don't Work 3. Multiplayer - Ideology Points Not Spawning for created worlds (But Precurser worlds give ideology points) 4. Every so often one of my ships attack, the attack animation blows up and parts just float into space and keep floating. Turn keeps spinning and won't end. 5. AI spa

1. Duplicate resources on the same planet do nothing. (Snuggler Colonies, Hyper Silicates, etc) 2. Artifact Anomolies do nothing but flavor text for research. (Capsules give 15% tech) 3. Resource hexes with special abilities spawn too random (like +3 social manufacture on Homeworld) but you can't build anything on it (Except Deep Core Mining) but you can't build Deep Core on your homeworld. (And it does NOT apply to Space Elevator) Very frustrating. 4. Random tec

Losing ship design happens to me when: - I redesign a planet resource that gives my ships +capacity - I loose the monosodium whatever trade resource that gives my ships +5% capacity and other things like that If the ships you are "losing" are built to MAX specifications (like almost every capacity point in there) check it out. I figured this out because I was like.. why am I losing ship designs? Then I

While I think the Map Editor is a vital piece for a some players, I personally have never used it, and rarely do in games. So I won't be updating this post with map editor requests as I do not think I could do them justice in describing what needs to be repaired. I will leave that up to people more awesome to me to post and refine a collection and requests in their own dedicated Map Editor post.

There is a difference between "It hurts when I hold something doctor" and "It hurts when I bend my fingers all the way back like this doctor" One you can help, the other you need to survive. If this was the fact that the colony capital was quadrupled in effect in a new patch, something that is placed down that you cannot help, and made numbers go crazy through the roof.. I would agree with you. You are either suggesting the player is using it too powerfully, at which case, you

"If you think the Doom Cannon is too powerful to build, then don't build it" - Mallory Lloyd Seriously. If you think something is overpowered, don't use it. Unless you are playing multiplayer games and you have issues with them using it. I doubt any serious hardcore GC3 player here would say "Nerf the AI" as we all want the AI to be smarter and better to provide a challenge. So this topic of discussion is -very

I can't wait until my new PC is built. Got it through Cyberpower a week ago when they were doing their massive sale. I couldn't beat their price on part picker (they were lower by almost $300) and plus they put it together for me with a warranty, so ya! [quote who="Mystikmind" reply="12" id="3647267"] One other tactic i use to stay ahead on the power rating is to set minor races to 'abundant' and no tech brokering on. and then whenever i trade with them, i often include a couple of their ships in the exchange - especially when they have less money. Yes their ships are insanely expensive, but i figure because it is a minor race, and they cannot sell my tech to anyone else, i got nothing to lose really! &nbsp

[quote who="Mystikmind" reply="3" id="3647276"] Quoting Kraegor1977, reply 1 But i am surprised he recommends building beefy ships with less engines? I have tried that in the past, then what inevitably happens is the AI sails right past them slow ships and attacks my less defended starbases at the rear and what can i do? NOTHING

If you are in desperate need, and I mean -desperate- need to fend them off, just overpower them. Just build a ship with nothing but missiles. No shields, no stardrive, no life support, just bulk it up to 40, 80, 300 or whatever you can build cheap and fast make fleets of them if you can. them running up against 5 ships with 300 missiles apeace they wont last long. Don't worry about building a "super ship" just build a glass cannon fleet that will decimate them before t

You can turn off the option "Fight to the last ship" or whatever its called in options under custom game. As long as a civ has like 1 ship left, they are consired still in it to win it. Also, there is sometimes a bug that flags "Pirates" from a Starbase, Shipyard etc as being from the previous race, and you need to kill the pirates.

Are you using any mods? There may be a mod where you cannot put it to none. By default I have it to none and I do not run any mods in my game. You may need to verify game cache (or re-install) if you have installed any mods or XML edits.

Upon taking over a planet that has "Civilization Unique" things, the planet is already flagged for having things such as a Manufacturing Capitol or Hyperion Shrinker. Even if destroyed, the planet is still flagged as being able to build one. Now in other games like Civilization 5, when you take over things, their "unique" buildings are still there in the cities. But I have not tried destroying them to see if I can rebuild them in that game. So the bug may lay in th

[quote who="trims2u" reply="12" id="3647144"] lordduzi Nerf the Thulium Data Archive and Durantium Refinery. As of the latest patch (1.8.1.8), it's nice to see that both of these are now much more relevant (and desirable). However, I'm now up through about turn 200 on a Immense map, and finding both are severely overpowered for the mid-game. As in, combined with even moderate placement for adjacency bonuses, both are WAY too powerful,
