sigh.......I have to agree.....smurfing ruins the MP for a game like nothing else. I was part of the World in Conflict community since before retail release and saw the game implode after about 6 months with smurfing pretty much being the reason. Sure rage-quitting etc. contributes as well, but I find smurfing only aggravates existing issues so if a game dev figured out a constructive way to discourage smurfing I think everyone would win! ...my .02 cents

@The_Jackalope, First, I'll assume you're trying to play on a "real" LAN (not a Hamachi "virtual" lan) correct? If you're using a "virtual lan" like Hamachi then you would be better off using the step-by-step guide I made to configure your router for direct IP connection. If you are in fact on a "real" LAN, please make sure all firewalls and any other security software is turned off (for testing at the very least) and that you can in fact "p

locolucky, The important thing when contemplating wireless for gaming is to find out whether your router will do WMM (wireless multi-media) or not. The problem with wifi for gaming is that wifi bursts-up to certain speeds when transmitting tons of data but slows down and sometimes even kicks into stand-by when there isn't much to send. k10w3, Just to add....... If under "folder view" properties people have selected to use "use sharing wizard" (in XP its "use simple file-sharing") then the "security" tab will not be there when they right-click into "properties". You must UN-CHECK "use sharing wizard" in order for the "security" tab to show up. the Monk

I have an old DELL notebook (Inspiron 6000 1.6GHz Centrino with 2GB RAM and an 80GB HD) that I had "upgraded" from XP Pro to Vista Business about a year ago. Boy did I live to regret that.... Ever since the beginning I've maintained that since SINS is run entirely locally (even in MP) and the host simply SYNCS the players, best results can be achieved when the system specs of everyone involved are as similar as possible. I have noticed this being the case ever since the beginning (release-day).

@voidcore If you're thinking the drives don't have any hardware issues. Use the following FREEWARE program to rebuild the MFT (from the backup that the O/S maintains), rebuild a lost or overwritten partion-table or even un-do a disk format (I've actually used this tiny little utility to UNDO a hard-drive format for some of my dumber [i]extended[/i]-family members....hehe :P ) http://www.cgsecurity.org/wik

@voidcore, On occasion when I've encountered a "dead" drive, I've wrapped it in newspaper then placed it into the freezer for a few hours. After a few hours take the drive out.....let it warm up [u]just a tad[/u] (do not let it get right back to room temp.). Avix605....like i said, i was married to an emergency physician for 10 years...I know how hard they work in Med school and the stresses they deal with in their work. I am not suggesting a communist situation where everyone is paid the same, but i am also suggesting that salaries for physicians in the US (and for that matter pro athletes, movie stars, etc.) are inflated. Nobody needs millions of dollars every year to live a good life. And by the way, doctors in Canada still get paid handsomely
