To expand on the suggestions I made in reply #94. I may be barking up the wrong tree here but I'm not convinced that creating the client-server/p2p hybrid I've been posting about wouldn't be that hard to pull off. Certainly might not seem profitable in regards to DG1 but should definitely be considered for a DG2 (if in fact in the works). Hell, even if it didn't bring in any money at all (adding the client-server model to take care of lobby and con
Ok, that makes sense. Use a client-server layer to maintain connectivity and prevent or repair inappropriate drops-- presumably by pausing the sim until all P2P connections are re-established or the P2P-dropped client drops from the server as well? I couldn't tell you whether or not that's doable in a patch, but it makes sense within the completely-P2P confines of the moho engine's sync/sim model. At the very lea
re: the_Monk I'm not sure what the benefit of making the lobby client/server would really be, if all clients still have to connect to one another upon game start. It'll just delay any connectivity problems until you launch. That wouldn't affect any mid-game connection drops either. The only thing this might be able to address is lobby drops (likely caused by all 7-9 other players in the game attemptin

I don't personally believe that fixing connectivity issues in Demigod is a lost cause. Nor do I believe that it would necessarily require an inordinate amount of time or money to do so. The question is does SD own the IP and/or netcode and if not can such modifications be done to the netcode without breaking contracts etc. that may exist. I have long believed that although the inability of P2P traffic to be forwarde

Yup. Focus on map-design and maybe allowing the community in with custom maps (ie. make DG2 mod-friendly.....at least as far as non-ladder games are concerned) Also, yes keep the number of DG's low but flesh them out more.......and have them all as "assassins" this time round......don't introduce balance/gameplay issues by having assassins AND generals like last time.

I have yet to see any benefits from using MSE. AVG and Malewarebytes do a better job. Top that off with MSE does not have an option to turn off auto updates. Very annoying. You can test this yourself: 1 unit outside a wall select the 1 unit click at a spot inside the wall the 1 unit will start filing into the castle to that spot click the same spot again (test even when not having moved the mouse from that spot) and the unit will start reversing going who knows where click the same spot a third time and the unit will reverse a

Shattered Horizon - truly 3-D FPS. Very cool idea sadly ahead of its time. It requires DX10 and since Win7 was still new at game launch many still XP-gamers at the time passed on this GEM of an FPS. Do yourself a favour and pick it up with a couple of friends. LAN parties with this game are amazing! Plus it has DEDICATED SERVER FILES for the public. Have to

I like it. What does it matter really? I mean the game still loads does it not? It's not like STEAM has some huge memory footprint etc........ The system my wife uses to game on is rarely connected to the internet, in fact it's usually only connected long enough to use STEAM to download/install the games and then off goes the WiFi. She plays all of her games using STEAM in OFFLINE mode. Have done this for years......never an issue. [e digicons

Yes constant defragging will in fact cause premature wear of the HD. That is fact. Unecessary read/writes = unecessary wear. That said, it is not a bad idea to force a "defrag" once in a while after software has been uninstalled or files moved deleted so that the filesystem is in a less fragmented state before installing something new. However, BY FAR the better thing (better than constant defragging

Looking at your above argument, which is a fairly distinct argument to the one you had first posted, you have made several lofty claims yet have not fully backed them up. I will assume that in your opinion, an unfinished game is one that contains any game or UI element that presents itself without performing some function. Thus, in your

Since you're either being obtuse or just want to see me type it out again and again, I'll keep my response as short/concise as possible: 1. An unfinished game is garbage (especially when complete features are missing at launch) 2. Great......we have speeches, authentic music and art (hence the "hollywoood" comment) but we can't make the game connect people who want to play together without crashing or freezing or bugging
