Running your computer system(s) from a 'least privilege' perspective (not using the 'admin' account and using the local security policy to lock down privileges further) is and always will be the single most important defensive tactic one can employ to combat malicious code execution (remote or otherwise). Do yourselves a favour and reserve the 'admin' account for related 'admin duties' and browse/use the computer using a regular (lim

If it is a fairly recent notebook one could assume there may be a factory restore partition actually (hidden) on the HD itself. Try to follow the system-specific recovery steps you may be in luck. In my experience, even though you may be able to eventually get the system's uninstaller working again such a low-level infection likely caused other damage that may/may not be visible at this time. In my opinion a full restore/reforma

First off is the notebook 'frozen' completely (ie. he cannot even move the mouse etc.?) or is it just in a 'kernel panic' (ie. the spinning 'beachball')? If it is completely frozen he could try holding in the power button until the notebook turns itself off. If it is not completely frozen he could try 'forcequit' on whatever application (likely safari if he was indeed browsing prior to the incident) and then a no

'player rage' in gaming is pretty much accepted as the norm these days. I cannot tell you how many times (over the many years I have been part of online gaming) someone has indicated they would 'rape my bottom' (and much worse......things which cannot/should not be repeated) should I happen to best them a time or two in an online videogame. Many times this sort of reaction (rage) is actually not coming from the 'youn

MadDeez, Wow, sounds like the 8.1 dev update was a nightmare for you! Sorry to hear that. Like I said earlier for us the only issue was/is with my wife's Lumia 920, the screen becoming unresponsive (and/or lockscreen having a mind of it's own ie. waking up and bouncing) at times ever since the update. You guys in the US haven't had datasense since the Amber update? Up here in Canuck-I-stan we've had datasense on our 920&

Yeah I updated both of our 920's to the 8.1 dev edition as well. Mine seems to have gone smoothy, but something I've noticed on my wife's 920 is that the phone 'wakes' itself sometimes for no reason (ie. phone just lying there and the screen lights up showing the lock screen and the screen 'bounces'). Also it seems like the screen sometimes becomes totally non-responsive. Neither of these things were happening to my wife's

The Nokia Lumia 930 (while not a huge advancement over my existing 920) will likely be my next smartphone. Will it also be the last of the lumia's though? There is speculation that with Microsoft taking the reigns of Nokia's device manufacturing this phone could be the last 'Lumia'. http://news.softpedia.com/news/Nokia-Lumia-930

I have (and I believe Jafo alluded to in a previous post that he has as well) tried my very best to do exactly that for a family member who had accidentally fried the controller board on a drive. What I mean to say is everyone/everything gets 'trolled' these days and it's not like that is a revelation either since the 'art' of complaining has been around I'm sure since the very first product/service. By that same token some 'defenders' of the kingdom aren't either (interested in discussion and/or even reading other's posts). For example I just saw a thread via STEAM where someone posted an OP about why the cost in euros was so much higher than US dollars (even taking into account VAT etc.). One of the responses he got from a GalCiv 'founder' was that he was an idiot for not understanding that it was an Alpha he was paying for.&nbsp
