Okay, I've actually figured out the problem. Windows blinds has a problem displaying icons in menus that aren't flat. The only way that I have found to fix it is to use skin studio to make the menus flat. here is an example of what I'm talking about this is an example of a flat menu. The non-flat menus are the ones that use a custom image i.e. one with rounded corners

Here's what I found out, the problem doesn't occur in two skins, "A Dreamy World" and "Impulse", I'm not sure why, but I hope this helps anyone who is trying to figure it out... it may be in the the code for these skins, but I'm not sure as I'm a newbie
