I dont like the idea of limiting someone from joining. Best thing to do, would be to show the specs in some way. It would be good to have a host option that would limit your game to people with the correct specs to enter. Or you could choose to allow the game open to all. The problem with showing the specs that it ends up in a lot of host prejudice. I have seen a lot of people kicking people because of ping in RTS games,

Ive noticed that theres a reluctance to talk on the IRC channel. I think we should start saying hi to each other more ,and also putting away signs if your not in.

Not so , a pacifist personality is as relentless at killing you as a warmonger. Its just they are more fond of wiping out people who make war with other people. you could say its more tricky to ally with a pacifist. From where do you get this skewed idea of pacifism? A pacifist is someone who would rather die then harming somebody, not somebody who just kills under some other label. A realli
Ships can gain experience levels, and you earn points that you can use to improve certain aspects of the ship, such as its shields. Alternately, you can have the computer manage all of that and automatically upgrade ships for you
Im really not too sure about this but wondering what other people think. There is always a danger where automation encroaches on "giving the player sumit to do". Added to player laziness to lean towards automising and rem

but pacifists would always lose? Not so , a pacifist personality is as relentless at killing you as a warmonger. Its just they are more fond of wiping out people who make war with other people. you could say its more tricky to ally with a pacifist. A reallife example would be thinking of pacifists personality in sins being more like how America is. They think they are promoting peace and will attack anyone who threatens peace.

Something I w I think maybe P5yy meant between the various racial factions and not just the races themselves? Yea this is what I meant. Even with 10 TEC factions , there should be personality differences between them. This does not effect what they build and stuff and their attacking and defending strategies and missions but only their personality towards diplomacy and what makes them like you more or hate you more. A simple system can be implem

Atm , im playing 10 player , small galaxy , unlocked teams. As you can imagine , diplomacy is VERY important. Im curious however as to what people think about having more obvious and diverse personalities for AI players in Sins. If you remember Civilisation 4 forexample, Your gameplay and diplomacy decisions are greatly effected by the obvious personalities of the races around you.

the Battleship had pulsar turrets that tracked First off those things fired slowly, and they also stayed. Second that gun could miss, guns in sins can not. Thirdly the turret itself didnt move, the laser beam thing did. No you are completely wrong on all accounts. Firstly They DO track and move , try playing homeworld 2 and testing it rather then just guess. I just played it for the 10zillionth time and

I was in school. All the lessons were just talking about what happen. Teachers just brought TVs into the classroom so we could watch the unfolding news. I remember almost every classroom had the teacher and pupils just watching the TV and disbelief. This was in England.

I think they should implement moveable turrets in Sins. Reasons and rebuttals. - This game is waaaaaaaay off supcom for being cpu intensive. People too paranoid!. Moveable turrets is not going to make this game need a quadro core ffs! and tbh by Feb 2008 people will have better PCs. my celeron 1.6ghz can run sins! - StarWars EaW didnt do moveable turrets but people still bought that game because its starwars. Sins hasnt got that same luxury. - Average consumers are ver

I don't see why that capability couldn't be easily added to the control AI. Obviously the player SHOULD tell the AI how to make open and stage the attack. Managing it afterwards is all it has to do. So for example you might tell your fleet to go above a planet and then attack it from above... or below... then after that the AI should simply move the force in from that direction... just as it would if you attacked from the side or head on... whathaveyou... <br/

I like the new way. I can see it been required in multiplayer games because Death trapping is a very big disadvantage to the attacker who has no option of retreating damaged ships from his fleet. I think the people who are against it , enjoy death trapping since its fun to do agaisnt the dumb AI. In multiplayer however imagine a human player with skills , who will death trap YOU when you want to attack. The result is nobody wants to be death trapped , nobody will want to attack . Attac

Something a bit missing in Sins , is surgical strikes or raiding into enemy territory. This is where you split off 2-3 cobalts off your main fleet to perform a surgical strike on enemy resources deep in their territory by literally bee-lining through phaselanes. The idea is simple... - small strike fleet - if not dealt with - causes damage to enemy econ - your ships will probably die - atleast its balanced by the damage you caused A skilled play

Ok , stuff that I would like to have fixing or included 1) The unit pip-box surrounding the planet icons. I think selecting the pip box to select all ships SHOULD NOT select Colony frigates. If a colony frigate is suppose to be with a fleet , I dont mind the extra micro to shift select the colony frigate. Its better then always having to shift unselect colony frigates everytime you want to quick pip-select attacking units that happen to be in the same gravwell as a colony frigate. <
