Windows update. And yes, it's free. Chances are you already have it installed.
And then? I still can't edit the values because when I open it up in notepad, there aren't lines, its all jumbled together and I can't find the designated values.
Try WordPad instead. If it is still all jumbled, click on Format in either of the two and make sure Word Wrap is checked.
The pause/break button.
See the white junk on the edges of my Cap Ship factory? Granted, when I went to take the screenshot there was a lot less of it than last night for some reason. Maybe I'll play it again and they'll be gone. Like magic.
I say get a 30" monitor. I prefer the huge screen to having two. Especially when playing a fps. Keep in mind, I don't do video editing or anything, so I don't have a reason to get two monitors.
True... it took me nearly 700 hours of game play before I would even consider going up against a xenon fleet...and at nearly 2000 hours of game play I only have 14 capital ships and a couple hundred fighters… but I feel like I’ve earned every bit of that
I'm assuming you're talking about X3 here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX6bzq3M4M4 - Colossus cutscene. Just thought I'd post it >_> For lo
Well, 1.03 will definitely help, I think, but the ai fleets are pretty cowardly. Just be aware that sometimes when they flee, they flee to your planets and start attacking while you're leveling their planets.
Eh, I wouldn't go so far as Pandos about the ram. You really should have a gig instead of 512. That upgrade will cost you less than the game itself. Your specs are pretty much on the low end, so try turning all the pretties down. Edit: Just recently. What does that mean? It was working fine before? If so, have you changed anything? Did you install or uninstall something?
Well, I just installed Vista 64 yesterday and when I loaded up Sins everything played just fine, but there was white artifacting* around the edges of ships, planets and debris. I played a full game for three hours or so and never had a crash or a hiccup except for this. I'm guessing it's a driver thing. And no, I'm certain it isn't heat related. Specs: Athlon X2 5600+ 2.8ghz Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe 4gb Mushkin DDR2 800 EVGA 8800GTS 640mb Driver: ForceWare 169.
Very cool, thank you.
Interesting little article there. Thanks!
Yeah, I'd save some on the monitor. The difference btwn 2ms and 5 ms isn't really worth the extra $. Kudos on the psu. PC Power & Cooling are the best. 4gb of ram is fine, though I'd get something with better latency. (Like [link="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146726"]this[/link]) X-fi all the way.
I totally read this backwards. I was thinking you were saying that Sins should be these things. Hence the confusion.
Wow. No. Not unless you just bought/built this computer and haven't installed/played any other game on it. Weird that everything else looks ok, but the ships don't . . . . I'll poke around the mesh files to see where a ship's brightness comes from, but don't hold your breath, I'm not exactly versed in Sins development.
1) I'm sure it's in someones future. If not Sins', someone will do a RT4x with even more stuff 2) Uh, you can pause 3) What exactly do you mean . . .
*breaks out flight stick and blasts some ships to bits* I find Freespace 2 much more fun than Sins. Don't get me wrong. Sins has me more excited than any game since, oh, Super Mario World (possibly). With the addition of the mod materials, I'm stoked for the future of Sins, but I'd rather see a great Sins mod than a Freespace mesh package.
1UP review score just changed from 8.5 to 8.0! Is there a conspiracy going on against this game??
Ah, it's still 8.5.
From looking in the files, yes it can be done, but I haven't tried that yet. As far as the white flash, I have no clue. Sorry.
horribly written, basic elementary review with no justification of the score. and the funny thing is, right above it there is an "average score meter" which shows a 9.2 and these people get paid to do this!! give me that job please!
Yeah, I'm in the camp that didn't think the review was poorly written. In fact, they didn't whine about the whole "lack of single player campaign" aspect, so I was quite happy with th
Did the game crash at those settings? Is there any difference?
and then I set the planet as the capital of my new civ. Sounds like you're playing a map where you start with no capital? Most maps do have you starting with one, so you may just need to try another.
Exactly what I was thinking. If you have to take the time and resources to set up a planet as your home, that'll set you back some. Oh, and snipe the pirate bounty at the very last second t
Just an idea. I'm fine with defenses the way they are since you can build a whole lot if really needed.
I agree. With as many as we can deploy, I find them useful, though obviously they won't stop an attack. If they did, imagine what we would have to go through to take a planet. The point of the defensive structures is to slow down the enemy and/or aid your fleet. Personally, it's all about placement of certain structures to draw t
Err..Centrino isn't a chip, it's a "brand name" which essentially means "this laptop has a C2D and an Intel graphics accelerator".
Sorry, you're right, I actually meant Pentium M.
Interdictors will defintely be part of the modded game. Have no fear of that. Hmmm, just have to decide issues like, what will the range be for the interdictor's gravity well projectors, will it run on antimatter, will it stop hyperspace entirely or only slow down jumps, and so on.
I'm all for slowing down and an upgraded version that will stop them (for a period of time, obviously). I say the "stopping aspect" will use anti-matter while
Agreed. Thanks for that worthless post. Maybe you could have said you're sorry to the developer for waltzing into his forum, squatting, and defecating all over his nice new game that has won praise from pretty much everybody except the people who post here?
