Okay, think it's working now. Thanks for that pointer to the setting in Stardock Central, didn't know it existed. I turned off the MCP SmartStartup altogether. Then went about deleting the caches again but this time found a SDCentral folder in the Temp directory which I hadn't spotted before so deleted that too. Restarted. Then went about enabling MCP SmartStartup. Restarted and all sorts of new stuff happened! RightClick is enbled, I've new items in systray... etc etc. So,

Okay, I actually have MCP SmartStartup enabled - didn't realise, I guess it defaulted to enabled. While I was there I checked to see if I needed updates but I don't (I only bought DesktopX a few days ago) I've unloaded WindoFX, switched off it's startup option, cleared the DestopX cache again, started it, enabled the Start with Windows option in DesktopX and restarted but still same story, just loads a normal XP desktop. RightClick also does not load. One thing I've noticed is

DeskTopX refuses to start with Windows for me too. I've tried clearing the cache twice now and it's made no difference. I also have "RightClick" installed plus WindowFX. WindowFX starts with Windows but RightClick has never started with Windows either. To be honest, I'm getting kind of annoyed about this - how hard is it to write an entry to the start up items? There's countless amounts of software out there doing that successfully, why is the supposedly "Windows Certified" O
