From odd problems I have had it appears to me that Icon Packager and Windows 7 are not compatible. Had a huge problem with trying to get icons back to default then could not change an individual icon without getting a message box saying Icon Packager could not load common.dll. That part has now been fixed by the latest update but will still not change some icons. In Icon Packager they show the right icons but the files still have Windows default. Would love to apply an icon pa

Getting exactly the same problem with Windows 7 Premium 32 bit OS. Index Base Score 4.7. Graphics Score 5.9 Nvidia 7600 GT Even worse if I try to change the theme from Personalize it overloads the wallpapers, brightens the monitor and all desktop shortcuts dissappear
Problem has been resolved for me with the update for WB that came through yesterday.
Also have the same problem and running Vista Ultimate. All was fine before the update and now useless. Tried downloading and installing three times with no luck. All drivers and apps are completely up to date.
I find incredible that here we have a faulty product for which I have just had a mail shot for. Surely it cannot be good business sense to send out mail shots for a product that has a known flaw? I appreciate it is being worked on but find it annoying to get a mail shot while Impulse keeps getting updates, which works, while a faulty product is still waiting to be fixed. :SURPRISED:
But each time I reboot and then go to use IP it asks me to register it again.
Every time I reboot computer and try to use V 4.00.163 it keeps asking me to activate it. Also, as above, the file location seems incorrect. Also using XP SP3 English. Another part is sometimes my dvd drive has the correct icon and other times not. If I try to change it I am forced to activate again and then reboot. Going to roll back to previous version till this mess is sorted out.
Bumping this thread. Have downloaded the latest update, version 3.99.148, and it seems the interface has reverted to the old smaller style. Is this an error as really liked the new styel interface? I have tried uninstalling and installing again but still the same.
Found the Widjet cache and emptied it. Have now tried a few Widgets, including my favourite clock, and all seems to be working again. Thank you. :CONGRAT:
suki750 what I did was make sure no widgets or objects were running, uninstalled DesktopX, rebooted, reinstalled and ran the fix in reply #9 before starting any up DesktopX and it cleared the problem. If you still have problems you might go clear the widget and object cache for those that are giving you a problem. That seemed to help someone else.
Can do what you have suggested just fine but where do I find the widget and object cache?
Just to bump this along. Have done the quick recent updates and am now on version 3.50.059 and have tried the DLL fix. Most of my widgets will not run. My favourite widget is SD_Clock_3.01 and that is stuck at the time I updated yesterday. Have also found that most widgets no longer run. Does anybody have any ideas as I tried going back to an earlier version with no success?
Just updated Icon Packager to version 3.99c[b].058 and all working well so far. Off to play some more. :)
Have installed Impulse and have a question before I set it for beta versions. Do I uninstall Stardock Central or leave both on my computer?
Have just downloaded Impulse and will try installing tomorrow. My Adobe Acrobat is Professional 7. With Xilisoft DVD Creator I even tried the latest version with no success. I did find though, with that program, if I opened Process Explorer I had an open cmd.exe running under it. If I terminated that then Xilisoft showed. This, of course, is even on a fresh install of Windows.
Whoops! My bad. Had not realised that before my problem I had the 'Show pre-release' button selected. The problem is with the pre-release version 3.99b[b].047 release that is causing the problem. Looks like there may be a serious bug in the pre-release version that needs ironing out. Have just tried both versions and 3.20.138 runs perfectly. Do I need to report this anywhere?
After some advice here. Updated Icon Packager to latest version and this has caused problems with XP Pro. Some programs run but cannot be seen like Xilisoft DVD Creator and Adobe Acrobat. Also Windows will not update, it just hangs. Did a full format and re-install of XP Pro and same happens. Uninstalled Icon Packager and all works fine. Have dug out a much older version, 3.10 and this works with no problems. Anybody else having this problem or any suggestions
