Nah still saying it can't write... So I downloaded Classic Shell - a *free* app which gave me back my Start menu and button. Thank you for the response though.

How on Earth does this thing work!? I bought it to get a Start button back and I still have the ungainly Windows 8 tile menu shiiepile. And it won't register either - whenever I click on the configuration exe it asks me to register it but doesn't accept the info - saying it cannot write the activation signature. I hate Windows 8!
