I need help to reset the number of activations in CursorFX (and probably Fences 3) because every time I start it it pops up an activation request. I have a code, but today it was no longer accepted, and up popped Maximum activations reached. I cannot find help how to do this myself, or even submit a ticket. HELP

@johnedwards1, thanks for that timely heads up. I do not trust that advice from them so will for the time being just continue using 3.09.

@johnedwards1 thank you for the heads-up!! Now I will wait with doing the PURGE for Stardock to tell us why this happened to you. And what to do about it, or to prevent it. I am not so certain the update is absolutely necessary, and not willing to risk it now.

This seems to mean that I have to purge all that I have done with Fences from my system. Is there no better way? At the moment I do not find this a very workable solution.

Today Fences informed me of a new vesrsion and downloaded it for me. (3.09. However when I try to install it, it says a file cannot be accessed, to close all other uninstallers and retry. Only there is no other installer running. So how can I update my Fences to the new version?

I have uploaded a report file to them this morning, I still have the problem, and the config.ini file has indeed been updated. The version now on my computer is dated march 22, i.e. today. This morning, as every morning, I had to activate both Fences and CursorFX. Again.

On my system the scan still removes the license files. I stopped the service, renamed the config.ini file, but when I let the system remove Program Temp files as part of the cleanup of system junk, license.sig and sig.bin are removed.

Update: I put the license files back (from a backup copy I made) and this morning the automatic maintenance had not messed with them. Finally a boot without having to activate Fences and CursorFX. So it does seem to work. Thank you!

I tried the fix but license.sig disappeared and another activation request for Fences3 popped up just now. So whatever it is that deletes the file, that was not prevented by disabling that particular option. I am using Avast, not AVG, in case that makes any difference. sig.bin also disappeared from the CursorFX folder in programdata. The activation request usually pops up when I reboot my computer.
Does 'new' mean around the time this started to happen?
Yes. For now, I have only added the exceptions, and will see by tomorrow if it makes a difference. I have not seen the popups saying Fences is not activated, since adding the exceptions. If it turns out to be enough, I will keep that as a workaround and repo

Hi, thanks for the response. CursorFX now indeed lets me register it again, but I still have to do it virtually every morning. Fences will now sometimes out of the blue pop up a small screen saying it can't find the activation, and I have to re-enter the code. I am using Acronis True Image 2021 (it's a new version) that includes protection against malware - I will turn off protection for a day and see what happens. I am also running Avast antivirus or whatever

Now a notification even pops up in the middle of some work on the PC - that the system can't find a license for Fences. I have to again activate it. When I go look, indeed the license.sig file that was there before has disappeared. No warning, and it's not in the recycle bin. And Stardock support has not contacted me.
