*Bump* THANKS for that Link!! I missed that last time I peeked at wincustomize.com! I am not on my own computer, so bumped this for when I get home and can bookmark the page. I'm finally getting back to DX after a lengthy absence. I'll have lots of questions, so I'll probably see ya again! Thanks again. I need all the tutorial stuff I can find for this! I've been away from programming for a LONG time. Like before windows 3.1 long!!

HOLY CRAP!!! How the Fluff did I miss Your response to this Month Old Post?? I am a Rude and Discourteous Man! I apologize. I actually shelved this project when I discovered that the players needed to call upon specific programs to do their dirty work. I thought I was making a player, not a set of act

I am new. But this advice can't hurt anything. First: Try using Task Manager (cntrl-alt-delete) to shut down Desktop X. That should restore everything. Then try to open Desktop X Builder from the programs folder. Uncheck the Hide Icons box in the second tab. Hit Apply and OK, then Unload Builder. Try again. Then wait for the Pros because my newbie idea Failed Miserably!! Good Luck. Peace.
Hello. Using DX Pro 3.1, I find that I can only play one sound at a time via the "idiot boxes". Is there a way to script a sound file to play in the manner of Background Music and still have the sounds from a game play (without interrupting the BG Music?). I am working through W3 Schools VB Script tutorials, but am just starting, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! <img src="http://media.vidilife.com/image/2006/2/13/357060/574263
It's the WEEKEND! 3dcursors.com is temporarily closed. So I'm posting a question about sound files! See that thread if you're bored.
Yeah, JavaScript works for mouse trailers... I wonder if an image could be offset to cover and completely follow to mouse more closely. I suspect the original pointer would show through rather often. The mouse trailer thing was meant to follow the mouse around... I don't know what would happen if it was used to replace the pointer. I'll look into it! I'll post any results, but the work week is starting, and I may be busy. Thanks
Actually, Imissed the double up on My Documents! I'll bet one was meant to be my computer. But... Just tested ita nd it Works!! Just thought You'd want to know. Here: Another Picture; Leftover Fireworks from July 4th! Peace.
Wow! Thanks Muchly! That looks Easy!! I wonder why it did not show in the properties on the given object? Pervious Build of Desktop X Maybe? Regardless, thanks! That defied logic to my tired old brain... Here's my "Relief" smiley I made:
OK, I am not being in the Gettingness of it. I wanted to make a desktop link to "My Computer" using Desktop X Pro. I have 3.1 and can't seem to download 3.19... But that's another story. I noticed that My Computer is not on the list from the drop down menu. I browse to it, but it won't take! I end up with a blank properties window, and a widget that opens the Stardock folder! I know this can be done, because Desktop X Pro co
Well, the game is for a website promo, so I need Full Rights to everything. I doubt I can use Cursor XP in that fashion. I don't have Flash... too expensive. Thanks for the bump, though. I'll look into a loadable and unloadable theme idea, but wouldn't that take too long for a simple mouse over effect on the game border? This new stuff is alien to me... I miss DOS!
I wanted to include a special Cursor. Not a Cursor XP file. But I could make it one if it would help (however I am using DX Pro and want the distribution rights to my creation, so that may interfere!). Just regular ".cur" & ".ani" files. I am still just beginning my studies of New Fangled Programming. So I just need a pointer (Good Pun!) for whether or not I'
Hello again. I am shelving my Media Player until I learn scripting. Active X Controls are not my main focus and I thought that a media player would be easier to script than it was (I have no real use for one either!). So I am making something more to my tastes. A Game! I wanted to include a special Cursor. Not a Cursor XP file. But I could make it one if it would help (however I am using DX Pro and want the distribution rights to my creati
Thanks!! That will help Tremendously!! This new fangled programming is Hoopy! When I learned to program... I was Punching Cards! I have a new question! I'll give it it's own topic so I don't cause any trouble... Yet...
YES! Links Please! I searched around, and am even considering the Enterprise Edition of Desktop X just for the Distribution Rights to a Commercial Desktop! But I would like to get better with it first just to be sure I can get the most from my Purchase! Thanks!
That was just the answer I needed to hear! I was placing too much faith in the plug-ins! Time for a full fledged VB Script Tutorial. Thank, Both, for responding. I'll get the hang of this eventually. I hope they work on the problems you mentioned... I am sure to run in to a few of them myself! Thanks again. Peace.
OK, I give up. I read the User's manuals for Desktop X Pro (The Software I use) and I still only have a vague grasp of Groups, Parents and Childern. Is there a decent Tutorial stressing where and when to use these? I have trouble with sliders still, and know it is involved with this concept! I don't want to post specific questions about such basic things. Unless it is needed to get help! I would most benefit from documentati
Try setting it to "Let DX Player Decide" instead of specifying WinAmp. I got an mp3 player to play sounds from anything, even video, this way. Good Luck with it. Peace.
That happens to me often. I usually just uninstall and reinstall (taking any works in progress out of the Stardock folder for back ups!). Works nearly every time. When it fails, I just repeat. Good Luck with it. Peace.
I thought I was getting good at this. Humbled again! I made a simple mp3 player. The problem has to do with the closing problem resolved in another thread (thanks again!) If I try to close the player while a selection is playing, without stopping the file's play back, I get Runtime Error R6025 - Pure Virtual Function Call. I am a very old programmer. These new things are all alien to me. I think I
Hello again. New guy trying to save time here. Using Desktop X Pro (got the old version working again, but still having trouble upgrading to 3.19) (I have another topic for that though...), I made an mp3 player from scratch with plug-ins. That was amazingly easy! I tried adding a volume control and found I need a lot more study to understand how to make my own after the fashion of the Silica Volume<
Hello. I had problems with Desktop X Pro 3 crashing (could not import widgets!) (kept "needing to close" after "encountering an error") so I uninstalled it and re-innstalled it. Same thing. I tried installing it using Stardock Central (something I did not do before) and saw that version 3.19 was available, but when I tried to download that, it went throught the motions and then installed the old version (or the new one looks identical and does not identify
Thanks so much! It was the exporting that was the problem. In retrospect it makes sense! It is not a program yet while it is being created, so a close program command can not work! I was stuck on that for an embarrassingly long time! (That's my "Relief" smiley I made) (I made the Peace sign one above as well!)
WOW! Thanks for the informative and Very Quick response! I never thought to test that! I'll give it a try. I may have trouble as I am not sure I have isolated the proper command, but this helps tremendously! I'll ask if I need more help. Thanks again!
Hi. I am making a Gadget with Desktop X Pro. I am completely self taught and have Enormous Gaping Holes in my knowledge of the basics!!! That said, I have had no trouble getting everything I want working via experimentation and reverse engineering the provided examples from Stardock (the ones that I assume are given for that purpose and Permission given!) But... I can't seem to get a "Close" button working!! It is terribly frustra
