I'm a bit of non-consoler. After playing several ports to the PC, I've come up with my with a rather strange analogy. It's like looking at Lamborghini or Porsche or muscle car. It looks sleek, has impressive lines. The outer appearance advertises it's a sports car with power, acceleration, speed, and handling. Yet you open up the engine compartment and you find a 2 cycle lawnmower engine in it. Every port or cross-platform I've pla

1. Well, for core mechanics, what is the term - suxxor? So, any change to core mechanics I view as good. It won't bother me since I also view the game no where near what I would consider its potential fun factor. Mechanics are a bit brain dead right now, in my opinion. 2. Minor graphics wierdness I could live with if the game was fun. I mean I still play some GoG games and they're not exactly eye candy any more. 3. Can't comment on thi

The way I see it, and as some have mentioned, it's the overly simplistic, non-tactical battles used in GalCiv and now Elemental. It's boring as all get up. To me, GalCiv II is really a Sim 3 style game. Make stuff all perty but that's about it. In my recent games of MOOII, I found the combat much more fullfilling and ship design more interesting. It isn't just a Lego set. Just look at weapons development. Research the base weapon, and as you go hire i

I don't think piracy will necessarilly kill software developers, but copyright infringement. As some have pointed out, and I think Frogboy has mentioned, DRM actually greatly increases the cost of development more than it saves in lost sales from pirates. DRM also does little to curtail pirates. It becomes more of a right of passage to crack things. I wish we had more data. Generally all we see are the doom and gloom, "Lost 10 Megabucks from pirate

It finally installed, but then I got, "could not initialize display hardware." I have a good reach beyond minimum spec. Then I also read that you can't map keys unless you use a hex editor. At this point I just uninstalled the game and took it for a loss.

Okay folks, I've tried downloading Dead Space. I think it succeeded, but when they game tried to install it, I got the Decompression Error message. I changed the extract directory, but still get the same message. I've been trying to figure out how to redownlaod it, but can't seem to mind the method. The Application Data\Stardock\Impulse\Temporary\ DownloadQueue, ExtractedFiles, and PreloadData are all empty. The new extract folder I Have is empty. <p
