Killing the video clips seemed to do the trick. Of course, the mission proved to be a disaster, but that's another issue.

Apparently, there is a glitch in one of the military missions. I show up at the Military starbase to participate in the invasion. I am asked if I am ready to go to sleep and wake up in system. I say "yes" and the next screen is my desktop. Is this a known bug? If so, is there a patch or a work-around? Barn_Owl

okay, I had Stardock Central installed. Apparently, the correct answer I found elsewhere: maccleary: In Stardock Central, click Tools -> Settings -> Internet and then click on Refresh XML Data. After doing this, I was eventually able to get SR2 to appear as a game that I had paid for and could download. Barn Owl
