It was explained somewhere that there's a bug with achievement reporting. The reason why you get the initiate every time is because it reports to the server each time you gain 1 extra game towards the achievement, but the server tells the game that you are actually completing the whole achievement. I have no idea if I explained that correctly, but what you should take from that is that it's currently buggered up :P They should be fixed soon, and hopefully reset for everyone so we

Definitely the sophisticated option. I think the way in which your example described it made it sound more difficult than what it is in practice. In practice, I could see it pan out like this: 1. I mine the ore 2. Ore goes into my stockpiles. 3. I select the buildings that use that ore, and can refine it/manufacture it. 4. These items then go into my stockpile. 5. From my stockpile, I can choose which cities are to recei

I'm having the same problem, and I believe one of those times was in the same game you were in Shurax- I wonder if we all crashed to desktop in that particular game? I thought it was just me, but we were nearing the end of the game and Demigod just completely crashed. This has happened to me in 2 subsequent games too, and has never happened before. I submitted the bug report that pops up afterwards each time, except for one time that it didn't show up at all. I wonder what the
See, if the title had been "All Americans are ignorant" instead of "To all the ignorant Americans", yes, I'd certainly call it prejudice and insulting. It isn't though.
' Hah. He's right you know. To all those getting their panties in a bunch over a merely assumed prejudice, the fact of the matter is, your responding in kind is only validating you as "ignorant" per the above wording. If you are offended at being called ignoran

Your post was all good till I hit this part.... you lost me here, I personally think its a stupid idea and will delete the coupon when you send it. I mean what am I gonna do with a second copy? Give it away? To who? Your just asking me to spend basically 150% on a game (100% the first time and 50% the next time). Soun
While the half off coupon is a good gesture, how is that going to help? The people who would get it already own the game, so how does it benefit them? If they're not liking it, why would they ask their friends to pay $20 for it when they don't think it's worth that? If they do like it, they're satisfied and wouldn't need a perk/apology offer.
That is not at all true. There are many, MANY people I'd imagi

These are all great tips, thanks guys. I didn't think to look at the shop for items I don't ordinarily use. I'm already set in my ways that it didn't even cross my mind that there'd be something which allowed us to DETECT the silly things. We had 2 TBs unfortunately, which only added to our dilemma as we were quite squishy and didn't really deal well with 3-6 mines blowing up in our faces from time to time. I'm aware of the strategy re: using a general and using

I just had the single most frustrating and hair-pulling Pantheon experience just before. I was in a 2v2 Domination game on one of the smaller maps with only 3 flags across. BOTH their players were Regulus, and guess what? They both chose a mine build. We had a situation where they had TWELVE mines between them over the three central choke points, and they were camping the flags waiting for a mine to go off to follow with a snipe. Needless to say, we weren't very

I think what might be better is if the mines disappeared after say 120 seconds.
This COULD work. But 2 minutes in game is a VERY long time. Especially since they persist beyond the death of the Regulus, whereas no other ability appears to. However: I just had the single most frustrating and hair-pulling Panth

I agree too with the OP, and see absolutely no sense in those trying to reason the current system. To those arguing that it 'encourages' chasing down the player: 1. In the system presented by the OP, those who get ANY damage onto the target will receive an "assist" gold bonus. 2. So it stands, that if the target is NOT chased, then no-one gets any bonus'. It can HARDLY be reasoned with any credibility at all that bringing in a new system will all of a sudden stop people chas

I think the problem with Erebus is that he has just a little too much utility. This is especially noticeably in the Pantheon, where the Light just doesn't have anyone that is able to use the same escape mechanisms as he does, or really counter his escapes. Though he's intended to be the Light's version of Oak in many respects, in practice, only Regulus can really reach him. The Light has too many slow, or range gimped characters. Playing as Oak, I'm forced to use the tac

This is SO important if demigod wishes to become a competition-level title and solidify it's long-term success. There needs to be a way to track allies and minions on the hud. The obvious, tried and true formula would be the inclusion of Health and Portrait data for all Allied Demigods visible as a UI element on the hud. Additionally, for generals, a smaller indicator showing minions is a given too. We're used to this in almost ANY mmo type game, but I really think this inform

From what I've read, you'll have to wait until the current tournament is over. I HOPE that we're able to change after that, would love confirmation of this though. This is probably the most annoying thing for me (besides the obvious connection problems), because there is never ANY NOTICE that the side you are picking cannot be changed later. I would have spent much more time in single player seeing which side I preferred before chosing a Pantheon team had I known that. I
let me quote from [Mass Effect uses SecuROM and requires an online activation for the first time that you play it. Each copy of Mass Effect comes with a CD Key which is used for this activation and for registration here at the BioWare Community. Mass Effect does not require the DVD to be in the drive in order to play, it is only for installation. After the first activation, SecuROM requires that it re-check with the server within ten days (in case the CD Key has

This looks incredible- what a terrific game concept. And with stardock overseeing the production values, it seems we've all got something to look forward to early 2009. There's nothing quite like waking up to another huge Stardock game announcement!

If StarDock is going to stick to their principles and say no to multiplayer on general principle, so be it (and good for them). If StarDock is going to conduct a poll to determine if such a thing were profitable and make it if it is, then that's capitalism winning out over principle. But it's wrong for them to make the decision based on a bad poll. Either be serious about

3000k is not a miniscule amount for a poll, especially considering the fact that this game was not put out by one of the big game companies and it is in an extremely niche category. Most polls put out by news sources use a small sampling of around 1000 and give a +/- of 3-5%. But you're not applying it to a random sample, so regardless, in ligh

I also agree with what NT Jedi has said. It's a little *too* subjective/biased to put a question such as that to a community that has been, for so long now, spending much of its time refuting those that are begging for multiplayer. I bet if you were able to pose that question to the wider purchasing audience of GalCivs2 (let's face it, a miniscule amount are active on these forums or contribute to polls), you'd find a far different beast needing to be tamed. If only from the many

I'd like to highly suggest reviewing its Mozilla Firefox support, Frogboy. I don't even see the reply box anymore in Firefox, to type up this reply I had to open the page up in IE. What's funny is I don't remember doing this when I first got GC2, but it's something that's happened lately (no changes or updates on my part related to Firefox either). Really the only irksome point I've come across of late.

Your point is utterly useless. There is a sound reason to why they charged a NEGLIGIBLE amount more and it was all in the interests of distribution and exposure. Considering they allowed you to download the game AND have CDs sent to you if you wished, I think they were offering more of a service than your standard shopfront and can justify this. It's your own fault for not shopping around. If you were really that strapped for fina
