Read the AI development logs. They're very interesting! One more thing, GC2's AI doesn't get the 'unfair' bonuses (extra units etc.) that other games rely on to simulate intelligence. They play exactly the same way as the human.

Well, I just tried it myself with a tiny ship hull, but it didn't work. Perhaps it only works once pirates have been 'activated' within the game?
Really? I didn't get aorund to trying this myself. So you can use tiny ships to spawn large ones. That is quite disturbing. Heh, I always knew there was a reason the AI had better ships than me.
That's a really nice idea Spearthrower. I'm not sure if a dev is aware of this problem yet, though. At the weekend I should have a bit more time to get online, so I'll get a screenshot posted of the ship, and also of the original design. (Both ships are large, but the hull shape is different). Is there a good way to take screenshots in-game without having to use the PrtScr, Alt+Tab, Ctrl+V approach?
You might be able to rename the ship file in "\my games\galciv2\ships"; each custom ship has a file with shipname.shipclass You might be able to rename it from here, and see if that allows you to start building them. I've not tried this, though, so it might not work. Thank you! I'll try that when
Also, if I design a new ship with the same name as one of my existing designs, I get another glitch. Every starport that isn't building something immediately begins to construct the new ship. =/
I just spent several minutes designing a nice ship with my up to date technolody, ready for a war with the Drengin. Pleased with the result, I decided to save it... "What can I call it?" I thought. After several more minutes (yes, picking the name is one of the harder parts for me, lol), I decided on the name "Star Raider". It sounded cool, but I had no idea the name was already taken by the pirates, as I'd never encountered one b
That happened to me. There's an easier way to get the second number. On the upgrade page, there should be a link in the upper right corner. It says something like "Eurpoean users, click here" or something.
Yeah, what Spearthrower said, but who knows, they might release extra parts in future patches.
If you trade goods away, do you still get to use them yourself? How long does the trade last? (I'm assuming more then one turn, and less than the rest of the game) Also, something happened in one of my games. I captured the Drengin homeworld, which had the Hull Plating goods. They became available for me to trade. Later, I disbanded the colony to prevent the Drengin from capturing it back, and I was still able to trade the hull pl
I like the humour too, but I'd also prefer it if I could disable those screens. After a while its not funny anymore. Sometimes I just want a quick description of what's happened, and some details of what I can do with my new tech.
I tried installing it on my microwave, but it won't work. I want MY money back too! I shouldn't have to swap my microwave for a PC just to run this game. OMG fix this Stardock!!!
That is one funky looking ship! lol - "it is't just a space ship... it's a transformer!"
I second that. I like to do something fresh each game - even if the differences are purely cosmetic. It depends on my mood.
I'm looking for some leader heads for the muppets. I tried making my own, but they suck. I'd like some that fit in well with the other leader heads (nice 3d, don't look out of place, etc.). I'd love to battle against Kermit, Beaker and Gonzo in particular. If anyone has some cool pics to share that would be awesome. I got the idea from watching the Muppet Matrix.

This looks pretty sweet. I've always wanted to play on a donut shaped map, where the civs can fight their way around the edge of the galaxy, or traverse the gaping void in the centre.

Maybe the problem is, that they look too much like Civ 4 borders, and people expect them to behave the same way. I couldn't care less either way, but I would prefer the option of turning off the borders. They're not nice to look at, and they convey information that isn't relevant to where your ships can go. Other aspects of your colonies (manufacturing and population for example) are only displayed on the minimap, and I feel it would be better visually
Ok, thanks PiTiFUL. I'll watch what I'm doing with stacks, and try to be a bit more careful. Although, I'd prefer it if clicking on ships in another tile just deselected it automatically.
I have a problem that seems to occur at random. Sometimes when I click on a ship or fleet, the ship(s) I selected previously do not become deselected. (The ships are on different tiles.) This means when I give orders to my ships, I'm accidentally giving orders to other ships, which then change course and decide to head off into the unknown. It doesn't happen constantly, so I don't know how to predict what is causing it.. The only
I think the problem is, some people would like to check the ownership minimap for EXPLORED space, but not UNEXPLORED space, but currently it doesn't do this. I'm quite glad there will be an option to adjust this in the next patch.
This annoyed me a little at first, but it probably won't change so I stopped thinking about it. I don't think the poster intended to say there should be a wall that stops people entering your territory, but it would be nice if you could ask a neighbour to show some respect and not waltz in like they own the place. (For example, Alliance allows all ships to pass, Open Borders allows non-military ships to pass, and Closed Borders r
