Actually I have heard several times that Stardock is working on this type of game exactly. I will probably wait to see theirs as I have been looking for some fansasy based strategy. My only request is if they could work out some kindof TOTAL WAR tactical type gameplay for the battles.

Laptop, I travel often and it just didnt make sense to buy a desktop and lapy. It ran great on DA up to large galaxys. Any bigger and it would get very slow in late game. The specs were pentium m 1.7? 1 gig memory windows xp; x700 radion graphics card 128mb. I can not wait to test on my new satellite w/ intel core duo processor 1.8?; 4gig memory(vista only recoginses 3gig); geoforce 8700m graphics. Cant wait to try huge gigantic maps! in TA. Sorry for poor grammer, tyring to type fast.

I belive there is also a diplomatic bonus given for the civilization you have the treaty with. And It really helps discourage that civ from declaring war because it hurts your relations with all other civs when you break a treaty by declaring war.

This can be particularly useful if you are playing larger maps with tight clusters of stars. Forgot about that one. Real good for getting those long range trade routes.... The longer the route the more money it produces when the trade ship is far away. Never used military starbases offensively, Probobly would be good if yo

Someone correct me if i am wrong, but here goes. Military starbases should be built very near your key planets. They will allow inferior ships to defeat superior enemy ships as lng as they are in the starbase radius. This is my favorite strategy for peaceful victories. Get a few good planets and build ridiculous military starbases around them. This way my pathetic military can defend them and I can spend my money on a tech, diplomacy, victory. You could also go for an influence victory, however

You are correct, LucasArts forced Obsidian to release early so as not to miss the christmas rush. Unfortunately, I witnessed first hand how good of a game Obsidian had made out of the 1st 7/10ths of the release and how horribly buggy, broken, nonsensical and very clearly rushed the rest of the game was. Obsidian apparently petitioned Lucasarts to allow them to at least patch the game afterwards and add in the content they had to cut. Lucasarts declined. So, I have taken it upon myself to decline

I bought the research wonder (sorry dont rember the name) you get with discovery sphere on my main reserch planet. I built it on a tile that had a invention matrix on it, so i expected to lose some research. However the wonder is supposed to give a 50% bonus and I had six other invention matrixes (spelling?) on the planet. My research on that planet went from 250 or so to 230 or so. System info below. i am using version 1.0x OS Nam
