I'm not a fan of large scale uncontrollable events. I don't mind a local earthquake or something, but huge game-changers are not my cup of tea. Having said that, if people really want this, then I would like a switch to toggle them off. :)

I'll have to check the website, maybe they have something there. The auto-retreat thing is kind of weird, not sure if that is a good or bad thing yet. I just felt dumped into a game with some rogues and hunters (wtf are those good for?) and no explanation. That's lame.
You must have turned off the tutorial by mistake. It was definitely in there. Maybe not to the detail level you needed, but to say there was no tutorial is just w
A game like Elemental that is based on inherent - not emergent - complexity will be lucky to live even 5 or 10 before nobody gives a shit. The reason? Inherent complexity is cheap.
That sums it up nicely. But I think your message is lost on this audience.

Sounds like the game is pretty tight for an alpha. I'll be purchasing when I get home. :)

Anything that promotes slower expansion for both the player and the AI would be welcome in my book. The world fills up too fast for my taste (and I'm playing on really big maps).
The non-aggression of mobs to AI units and overt aggression to players units means they effectively act as guardians for the AI, so why would they want to clear them? Example: A death demon with a pack of assassins next to AI city ignoring AI units. Player army arrives and captures AI city, death demon group immediately attacks captured city on same turn, destroys players army and razes city. Next turn AI pioneer builds ou
I just realized that screenshot has trees! My overland map doesn't show the trees. Guess I'll reinstall and see if that helps.
So you are doing a "double kill" on the bugs?
This "double kill" thing is pretty much game breaking on maps bigger than Large. I'm playing on 11x8 maps and the AIs are getting knocked off one by one usually before I even meet them.
I've seen this happen in .77 - it has to be a bug. I can't build in their territory, so they shouldn't be able to build in mine.
Hey! It's there now! Sleep is for the weak. Time to check this out..... @Cackfiend - I don't think there's anywhere that shows you when you registered. Whenever you first downloaded or patched the game through Impulse it should have been registered automatically.
Cool - thanks for the update Brad.
It's a new feature, 4-man units is the smallest squad size now. Pioneers, caravans and some other recruitable creatures are exempt.
Unfortunately, the UI doesn't update very well to reflect the fact that you can buy a single pioneer versus a group of soldiers. Most of the time nothing appears buildable even though I have enough for a pioneer, and when I finally click around enough to get the pioneer to be available,
This is a mod to create Gaelic names in Elemental. I tried to follow standard Gaelic letter frequencies when at all possible. Link: Removed (if anyone is really interested, I'll upload it to a new site) Installation: 1. You need to replace the Core name generation files to use this mod. Unzip the files to your Elemental directory: ..\Stardock Games\Elemental\data\English\ and choose "Yes" to overwrite the existing files.</p
Yes it is possible. You have to build all the maps though. I started working on it, but with the AI tactics being basically rush-the-human, all it did was make battles longer, not more interesting. I can dig out my notes on how to do it if you're really interested. It's not worth the bother though in my opinion.
Custom maps are in alphabetical order finally.
