umm I didn't see fire bolt or lightning bolt. Haste. Hmmm there is a few missing from the list.
Click on the "Tactical" tab at the bottom. 82 spells in total, huh?
These steps are not necessary. As long as the new file is in the Elemental/Mods folder, the game will pick up the changes. I know it's not true for some files, but it is true for the elementaldefs.xml.
I pick all the element books because they are not readily available in the game. The Enchantment book is available in the tech tree. Edit: I should add, it's pretty much a no-brainer to take them all, which means it's not an "interesting choice", thus detracting from the game experience. The magic system needs more work to differentiate between the elements and add resistances to the various types of magic.
Just to add to nOObonian's question, is the AI programmed to pursue any/all of the victory conditions?
Doesn't this cover it? https://forums.stardock.com/393532 Edit: Beaten by one second! [e digicons][/e]
Dead huts! I refused to engage some beasts in a level 3 location, and now most of the level 3 locations won't trigger when I move onto them.

Should fix the scaling issue.
Are points for heroes in there too (at work and can't check right now)? I'm thinking 2 for heroes, 3 for sovs, to try to keep everyone relevant.
Thinking more about this.... since magic was "lost" in the cataclysm, maybe ALL the books of magic (except maybe light/dark or whatever they're called) should have to be researched like Summoning is now. This would create a cost-benefit choice that actually requires some strategic thinking on the part of the player. If this were added in, would the AI be able to handle it? Could this be modded?
I also like your idea of adding the magic power to the game - define how much of each one you have, instead of only turning each type on or off.
Yeah - there's no strategy whatsoever here. Even Brad gives this away in one of the video tutorials when creating a custom leader; he says something about "I like to just take them all" in regards to the magic books. And all the default leaders have all the

I guess that technically speaking we are getting a "random" map - the game randomly picks one of six maps. [e digicons]:-"[/e]

I see myself playing some more Civ 4 until Elemental is in a playable state (and let's be honest: Civ V probably will need a few patches as well) and am always intererested in good map scripts. So how good are the mod tools? Could anyone open them up and make some decent maps? I'm tempted to buy the game and have a go at making maps. Can you make map scripts like in Civ 4? Or at very least modify whatever is generating maps by default? Do we have any options other than just deleting the pre-set seeds and getting the resulting horrible maps?

Works for me. I needed to finish some ships real quick for my war against the Thalans, and since that would have put me in the red I decided that everyone else should foot the bill. So I passed the hat around and got enough cash to quick build my ships. Haven't been successful with non-cash demands yet, so I cannot commment on them.
Oh yeah - absent the whole epic generator, I'd also like some sort of logging of in-game events.
I would like the ability to see improvements by category in the build list on the planet screen. So I click on "Production" and it only shows improvements that effect production. Click on "Research" and it only shows labs. etc.
