Elementerra does not allow user placement of resources (yet). However, you can generate a map with Elementerra, then open it in the Cartographer and place whatever resources you want. This gives you more control over what type of map you are getting, and you don't get any of those annoying cliffs along the sea-line. While you are placing resources, you might want to add in the minor factions as well since the game seems to be ignoring all but one of them.&n

When you head to WC be sure to do a clean login, or logoff and login again.
Just going to the downloads at the site, I had no idea that it was a Stardock thing. Thought it was just some random download service. :)

Edit: Apparently that site (wincustomize) requires a separate login even though it uses the same user/pw as the forums. Who knew. Mayb
Until recently I wasn't aware that it limited downloads. I'll update to a secondary source as well in the future. I use wincustomize because that's what is linked from the elementalgame.com website, which means more exposure for the mod.
Fair enough. I just know the only stuff I've downloaded from that site is Elemental mods, and I've already met whatever limit they set. I was hoping to get the current version of Exp

My favorite mod because the game cannot generate random maps: Elementerra: https://forums.elementalgame.com/395529 And runner up is a mod that makes the world less bland: Adventure Content Pack - this works with 1.11 even though it says it's for 1.1: https://forums.elementalgame.com/399062 Other than those, browse the Mod forum

There is little or no differentiation between the default factions, so you really *need* to roll your own if you want some personality injected into the game. Even then, you are stuck with the default races (even if you use the faction "creator" - it has some pretty narrow constraints) so everything ends up feeling the same. You'll find there is a limited set of strategies, and they all play out the same no matter what faction you use. Now I'm sure someone will post "

They show up if you add them to a map in the Cartographer, so they are working. The game just isn't placing them when it populates a world.

I vote that Stardock starts taking the "It will be ready when it's ready" approach. Stop giving us estimated release dates that create expectations that may or may not be met. Thank you.
Yeah, same with those of us who don't have the destiny's ember content.
Brad has said that the Destiny's Ember content will NOT be released to the rest of us as it is "owned" by Random House, not Stardock. At least I think that was how he put it.

The Titan's Workshop (the Best Buy content) is pretty boring - just another midnight stones quest with a weapon at the end that hasn't been rebalanced since all the stats were changed (and is therefore useless). Not sure about the Walmart content - probably gives you a discount merchant that drives all the other shops out of business. Ha ha.
Thanks guys, I appreciate you getting back to me and saving me from a "uh oh" moment. To clarify, if I just generate random world name, select Large map, and check the Epic, Minors, and Monsters boxes, then will the map be a flat grassland, or will it have random lakes, rivers, oceans, islands, etc? Just totally random map stuff? I'll check out the map generator. Does it work with version 1.1, or are there compatibility issues
I like games from Matrix Games and Paradox (EU2 & HOI 3), and Civ5 just felt...... empty. It just didn't seem very deep. Elemental seemed deeper when I played it, but due to bugs I couldn't finish a game due to crashes. Are these crashes fixed now?
Elemental has nowhere near the depth of an EU2 or HOI3. In fact, I would say it is comparable to Civ5 depth-wise. Having said that,
Elemental is sorely lacking in strategic depth, and I have to say that it concerns me a little that the developers posting on the thread mention the interface and not game mechanics, though I guess that this doesn't necessarily mean that it's not on their radar.
Alright, I've asked this before but with 1.11 out I'm wondering if it still applies: Will my sovereigns that I created in 1.9 carry over into version 1.11? Thanks in advance.
The upgrade process wiped out my custom races and custom units (which includes any custom sovereigns) folders. Best to back them up prior to updating. All of the sovereigns I designed in 1.09e have worked for me thus in 1.11 far without any issues.
I thought that one of the major selling points of this game was supposed to be modability.
If they want to stay true to this, they need to be more sensitive to the fact that people put tons of work into mods (ie. don't delete any custom content without forewarning), and they should be much more open about what changes are going into a patch including what files are or may be impacted by changes.
