I played sins during beta 2 and up untill about 2-3 months after initial release...I'm looking at playing again and grabbing the expansion...i was wondering has the AI improved ...last time i played even on hard...the AI was suicidial it would just send in lots of ships (swarms of low level cap ships) 1. Is it better now? 2. Do the AI level their ships yet?

I was browsing the internet and came across this video of a guy named matt mason who did a keynote speech at the Medici Summit and he made a lot of really good points about piracy as a whole and industries as a whole. I just thought that i should share it with everoyone it makes for a very intereseting watch http://torrentfreak.com/the-pirates-dilemma-080314/
Thanks for the advice guys, especially from you alway, at this point, that may have to be exactly what I must do. However, there is hope, as I did manage to win a massive battle against two of the factions and decimate their cap ship fleets, I am currently attempting to retake my lost planet and take down the most weakened of their alliance. I'll update the situation if I need more advice, and feel free to type any more ideas if you have them! Thanks Again!!!
I My advice for peeps and AI that are doing this to you - Keep some of your fleet in the back. Don’t really just on defenses. When my fleets are not “attacking”, I keep them on planets in the middle of my empire and make sure they not too may phase lanes away from all my planets. Also, if a fleet just by-passed your defense choke point, jump your fleet the quickest way to where you “think” they are going. Don’t follow them. If you keep fleets centered, you can ti

I 1.fill out all my extractors 2.Build 3-5 scouts (depending on map) 3.Build a capship factory 4.Build a capship of my choice (usally carrier) 5.Build light frigs and 1 colony frig as fast as my cash allows 6.Make a B-line to the nearest choke point the worry about colonizing the inner worlds later 7.Build defences around choke point 8.Build 2-3 civi researchers for the trade building 9.Conquer other inner worlds 10.Conquer everyone else

this is meant mainly as a solution for those that want the soft cap back but still retain the idea of carefully considering when to tech up your fleet logistics

I have an idea for the fleet size. Use both ideas (the research fleet sizes AND fleet sizes are governed by planets owned) For the bulk of your fleet cap you are governed by your research. BUT you can get a SMALL increase in your fleet cap by the number of planets owned. This way smaller player can remain competitive but larger players get rewarded for having more planets.

Im curios as to what everyone's favorite race is? Currently im playing Advent alot...not really because i like them i just like the sweet vis effects of their weapons and the fact the i played the TEC and Vasari to death..been in the game since Beta 2...But id have to say i like the Vasari most with the TEC a close second. The vasari planet bombardment just looks and sound completely EVIL.
From Yarlen in an earlier topic This probably sounds harsh, but our viewpoint is that if you've stolen the game your opinion means nothing to us. Don't even bother posting because all you're doing is wasting our time and telling us who we should ban. Aaaarrrrgh Matey!
Cannons at the ready!!!......FIRE!!!!
I like to create a mix of AI levels and AI personalities when there are multiple in a game. You are right, a hard AI may get to the weaker one before you do, but the race can be half the run! And if you're not one for speed, set some of your AI to 'hard' and 'defensive' and see how well you break his wall <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_19 src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Smile.gif" onload=ImageResizer.createOn(this); align=absMiddle border=0 tr

there are some differences in the planets..the desert planet has more logistics space so you can put more buildings in orbit. The Ice planet is invaluable because they have 3 crystal asteroids orbiting it. The normal planet has a high population cap so you can just rake in the tax credits. The volcano planets have bonus points towards your fleet capacity. Hope this helps
As a casual gamer I think you'll enjoy the customization of the game. Being able to choose your player portrait, faction logo, naming your ships and planetsP>
So the mystical button of doom will soon be working? not till release i imagine :P
