Quick word on 1.11 AI declaring war and actually attacking: If the access to your territory is blocked by another AI (I.e. its influence seals off the access points to your territory), and you have been wardec'd by a third AI, the third AI will not violate the second AI's territory and will never send units to attack you. (or has not tried yet in the game I have running currently.) FYI, AI set to Extreme, world set to ridic. I don't
FYI, these occur in 1.11: The info card on improvements always state that the improvement has 0 turns left until it is constructed. Improvements can be built (at least by the AI) on tiles that are occupied by enemy forces. Bugs / Issues (AI): The AI continues to rebuild improvements whilst enemies are right next to the improvement tile (comple
tl;dr version: random terraforming effects occur each game turn. This may not be moddable, but the terraforming spells in Elemental remind me very much of Populous; couple that with the broken world theme and the perfect fusion results: The world is still actively being broken! Random terraforming effects occur each turn in territory that has not been claimed for either kingdom or empire. Moddable or is this idea something that Stardoc
Yes, in the first game each AI was set to challenging, and in the second the AI is set to Hard. I may do a test on Ridic as well. I also need to clarify that I've been playing with Mods only, and have not tried an unmodded version of the game (mad props to heavenfall ;D). Since I have not played unmodded, I don't know if it is any different, hence the question.
In my last epic style game with 7 opponents on a large map (ridic/callenge) with spawning monsters and the adventure pack mod, I encountered only 2 AI players after fully exploring the map by turn 400+. Tarth had 5 cities, and another faction had only 1 undeveloped city. No other AI's were encountered. I did find what appeared to be many start locations, where food + 2 other resources were clustered. Large stacks of monsters roamed, sometimes 12+ in a stack, many with
After finishing my first game on Large, Epic, Challenging (I'm a wuss, I know), (also note I was using the common mods like enhanced spells, artifacts, creatures, quests, etc.) I found several interesting things: 1. In game setup I had set up 7 opponents, all on Challenging. I encountered only two of those opponents on the map. The first was Tarth (predictably) with 5 cities, and a moderate amount of tough stacked units. The second was Irena or s
had this one happen once to me. I noticed the same thing. However, at some point after they get colonized, and a save/reload, they will display correct graphics for their PQ.
This may seem like a silly question, but why do a player's autopilot moves that occur after the turn button is pressed happen one at a time, but the AI players occur all at once?
Again, I suck with the search function. Pardons if this has been posted. After you invade a planet, the planetary population will reflect the remaining total troops on the planet. However, you only "use up" any transports who have some or all of their troops killed. Any remaining whole ship's compliments will cause the trasports themselves to remain in orbit, and will be FULL. That means if I invade with 4k troops (4 billion, in other words), and only 500 die, then

Funnily enough, I have had that one happen in my current game, although it was to only class 5s. This happened in the opposite section of the map from me (i have about half now on a gigantic map), in the middle of terran space. However, I noticed a strange bit of behavior. The terrans did nothing. The arceans came halfway across the map and colonized almost every single one of them after 20 or so turns. Terrans did not get planet one, did not even build a single colo
At some point they appear to stop moving things around. In my current game the Andians are the only ones left. They had built scouts, traders, and constructors, but now they move nothing. In other games the independents have built starbases, attacked planets, etc. But again, they appear to stop doing anything at some point.
OK, the torians just traded the "subspace rebounder" tech to me. The catch is that on the trade screen nothing, and i mean, nothing, was listed on the torians side. After the trade, no tech window popped up, and there was no evidence that I recived the tech. The torians Initiated the trade. I'm assuming that this is a "good" or "evil" tech, that I, as neutral, can't access. Would it be possible to flag the alignment tech's you can't use as non-tradeable, so that others dont get s
thats the way i read it. That means if you have a ECM defense of 4, and someone shoots you with a mass driver, your ecm will work at defense value of 2 versus that attack. Dont make me calculate the square root of 3 though. And its shields versus beams, as i recall.
Search on forum brings up nothing on this topic, but 2 things with starbases: 1. There is no +7 missle attack module, to match devastation beam or atlas beam. Attack values are 65, 58, 65 for beam, missle, and mass, respectively. 2. There are two (2) Battle Stations Mark III's, one with +4 attack and one with +6. Probably already spotted and reported, pardon if this is the case. EDIT: Gah, NM on the +7, nad to get final tech in missles to get this.
I haven't been getting sleep either, but i've been playing. Game crashes due to a hot video card has made me very grateful for a wonderful zoom out feature, which keeps the processor usage down but does not detract from gameplay. Frankly, even with some of the bugs or misimplementations the gameplay is not in any way shape or form broken. I simply adapt and keep kickin some Korx a$$ (they have a fetish for pickin a fight with me, every game!) while holding of 9 players on a gigant
Hmmm, this explains why when I spend most of my time in the zoomed out map mode I only crash rarely on the ship development screen as opposed to when i'm down in the close views.
Curse you Stardock, for raising the bar!!! Curse you for scalable maps, which tell me where my enemies are strategically over a huge area, but i can zoom down and look that the weapons on one enemy ship! Curse you for the best ship designer ever!! I will look at those spreadsheet like ship design screens in any other game and have nothing but regret in my heart!!!! Curse you for Smart AI's that conspire against me, and are painful to play! Curse you f

One thing you might try is, if your video card software allows, match your anti-aliasing settings with the setting in galciv's options screen. So if galciv is set to 4X antialiasing, then go out to your card software and set it from "application controlled" or whatever its on to 4X. It can be anything, just make sure they match, and you are running 32 bit color in 1024x768 resolution, and you have latest drivers, directX, etc. I reccomend latest soundcard drivers as well.

Option A. History tells us that Stardock is always on the ball, unlike some other developers (cough Moo3 cough). The outcome is assured.
Couple of interesting tactics that might help you survive: Large enemy fleets can be distracted and diverted off for many turns. Simply make a fast scout (>6 moves) with good sensors and one lazer to kill freighters and unescorted troop transports. Then make a perimeter around your worlds. when enemy fleet come in, bring your scout to within N+1 grids, where N is the number of moves teh enemy has. The enemy fleet will usually divert to kill your s
