While I had an almost instantaneous download (sheerly by accident) at 1:00PM EST, I am taking it easy with the game. You might call it savoring it, like a fine wine. I don't want to burn myself out with a 20 hour marathon gaming session. I have started a few games and then ended them. I tried a normal game as the Terrans. I also did a totally custom game. And then a Terran vs. Drengin canned game. Then I came here. I was hoping that I'd read a few glowing reports from var

I am extremely impressed by the graphics and overall look. The mousewheel view scroll is flawlessly smooth. The interface is informative and not at all overpowering. I'm playing without having read the manual yet and having a fine time. The screenshots DID NOT do the game justice. Anybody out there who is still undecided about getting this game, get off of the fence and buy it already. I didn't like what I saw in the Demo for GalCiv1. But I spent time here on the website and forums and read as much as I could about GalCiv2. I preordered after about a day or so. I love MOO2. I do not expect GalCiv2 to be another Master of Orion game. BUT. I do expect it to be the kind of game that I love to play. So, if you want advice from someone who just re-purchased MOO2 because he loves it so much... BUY THE DAMN GAME! NOW! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/

A parsec is the time that it take for a section of parsley to travel from your hand to the sauce pan. In galactic terms that's (-10 times negative 309 furlongs per fortnight divided by the amount of butter in micrograms times the hours that you watch Molto Mario minus the (Rachael Ray constant)). Plus 42. Always plus 42. You're welcome.

!6 lines up from the bottom you'll see when I arrived. Just as everyone was saying goodbye. Well, it was a fun read anyway.

Just found a copy of MOO2 after a long time without. I had given my copy to my son who lost it. So I purchased a copy from Amazon. Yeah, I paid for a 10 year old game. I'm loyal like that. I made sure to order from a local company so I got it Friday. It's still a great game. Also MOM and the Auto Assault beta. I've been in the beta since June 2005. It's turning out to be a really great game. Sure, it's not a TBS, but I have eclectic gaming tastes. So I spend very little

we also want to do a fantasy strategy game (we've long been in talks to do a sequel to a certain well known fantasy turn based game but there's been little movement on there due to some of the legal requirements involved to do it). Yeah I saw that too. Heh. I guess that they can't name the name because of those very "legal requirements" spoken

A Dremel 10.8 volt cordless and an older corded model. The cordless just doesn't have the torque I need sometimes. Oh, you mean software... Nah... I'm a hardware guy.

Anyhow, if you do a search for Microsoft's TweakUI powertoy, you can use that to change the location of MY Documents to another folder or antoher drive, if you so desire. Dang, I forgot about that. Thanks. Good call.

The default folder is not set to My Documents (though the save games go there under My Games\GalCiv2). Can this be changed after the fact? My C: drive is size limited. If the save game files are big, I'll be running out of room real fast.

I place no guarantees on this advice; but, I just did it and so far, no problems. run "regedit", go under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Stardock/Drengin.net/GalCiv2", and change the "path" value. Again, no guarantees offered on this. Do so at your own risk. I can see no problem with this, assuming that the path flag is the

Is there another way? There are utilities that can move folders and change the registry settings as well. There might even be freeware ones. But I'd be careful. Badly coded proggies like this can mess up your registry permanently, making your computer unable to boot at all. Norton Utilities comes to mind, but it's rather expensive.

So you are saying I just copy the GalCiv2 folder to anywhere I want (even another computer) and recreate a shortcut pointing to the location of the startup exe file? (If so, that would be great) Ah, no. Because the registry would not be corrected. The game won't run. Best bet would be delete and reinstall, changing the destination folder

Pre-download e-mail arrived. Pre-download went off without a problem. 1,023KB/s for the first files. 300KB/s average for the next three folders. 1.08 GB total. I'm sorry I can't report any problems. Maybe on release day. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
