I think there should be a limit in place, which allows you to build 4 SB / sector. Though this only affects your own SB not the opponents, I think. Could somebody could confirm this one?

AI is OK in my books but still I do not find it to be light years ahead of GC2, then again I havent played many DA games yet. In the first release I noticed that AI did not create any trading routes. There was update the very next day and in my current game the AI trades more actively. Bug solved I guess or just a quirk. Second nasty thing I noticed was that AI can destroy your mining bases without declaring war. In my last game I gave AI couple ships and he just rushed them th
Good idea, but showing size for components would be problematic. Doesn't component size vary somewhat according to what hull size you're using? Yes indeed, did not think of that. Maybe it be shown as an average size or just by showing an own number for each ship size? tiny: 5 small: 8 medium: 12 Hull components could be bit tricky, but I would like to see atleast building statistics for example Industrial
Thanks for your input everybody I wouldn't say that being able to trade fleets is a must. Accidentally giving away the wrong capital ship would be annoying, accidentally giving away a 50+ logistics sized fleet would be a disaster. Its not totally must that you could give fleets to AI, but something like that would be nice. Havin
With the first colonization tech your planets have 50% production rate. Once you research the second "advanced" colonization tech, your planets produce at 100% rate.
DA is out of beta so thought to bring my list to proper forum section. UI Issues -- When naming a ship, naming should start from the end of the name. IE. Colony 1, typing should beging after the 1 number , not from the beginning before C character. -- Technology screen. Thank you for making a zooming possibility, but the zoom should zoom where the mouse cursor is. At the moment it always zooms on a selected tech. -- Star bases/Constructors should b
Besides the new galaxy creation menus/templates/tech tree there is only one clear ingame UI change from GC2 -> DA. Which is a little arrow pointing from planets into which direction ships are launched from orbit. That is the only UI change I have spotted ingame I really hope SD realizes that before they start pumping out more features with patches they really should fix the underlaying problems tha
Those are some nice improvements. It would be nice if planetary improvements were grouped by type instead of alphabetically though. I yearn for exactly this kinda UI improvements! There are tons of little things how DA could be made much more easier to play. I must question the logic why did the developers not concentrate more on UI tweaks? Iam pretty sure they have just played GC2/DA too much and have become blind to the UI
As a veteran GC2 player Iam tad dissapointed with DA. But wish not spoil the party, I´ll write a review after DA is out for the masses.
1. You research the next mining tech and send a "miner" class ship to upgrade the asteroid fields. You can automate the ships to do this. 2. Dunno, maybe devs can clear this up. 3. Only played one DA game, but even with trade tech on, the AI players do not seem to have all the techs. So yes atleast by my experience, limited diplomacy helps this issue.
A quick heads up to devs! I have just installed DA, but when I launch the game from file "DALaunch.exe" I get the launcher screen with only option to Install the game even if the game is installed and ok in stardock central. When I run the "GC2DarkAvatar.exe" file the game boots up normally. A small thing, but can cause confusion to some.
DA was released to pre orderers early
Awesome, utterly awesome! I was preparing myself for a basic boring and very drunken weekend but now I have DA to mess with! Thanks SD for early delivery, nice to see pre-order people threated nicely
I have been waiting UFO:AL like a rising moon, that games demo really convinced me that Altar is getting better with is UFO series. I dunno exactly is it RTS or TBS. It has kinda system like Defcon, you can speed up time, slow it down or Pause fully. MTW2 was a huge let down for me personally and wont be buying CA games anymore, atleast not before reading the forums. The game is basicly RTW with new graphics and thats it. CA really should take an example of developers like SD who can c
DA seems to building up nicely. I really enjoyed the Beta and looking forward to seeing all the new gfx and AI boosts the final version will bring. The beta DA experience has been 80% pure fun and love most of the enchantments, but with good there are also few bad ones. 1. No pictures of land combat? If you guys have not doned anything for land combat gfx it will be major let down. Not only did not the land combat get any improvements (like ship combat did) but it seems gfx was left unt
Mid night for me too Could somebody ask about UI changes for me? Thanks in advance.
In my opinion GC2 could use alot of this kinda UI tweaking. The information could be distributed much more easily with tweaks like these, good stuff. Instead of pumping more and more features I really hope SD realises that before they add stuff, they should make the UI more "people" friendly.
I started playing Go about a year ago and its a fantastic game. Definetly a game I would recomend to a AI programmer.
I think I read Brad in another thread say that they were going to do a "phased" rollout for the pre-order folks in order of the date we signed up. Very intresting, I was just wondering about this. Good thing I pre-ordered early
Something like this would be really welcome, never thought about this one myself. I hope UI got all the loving it needs in final or gets in updates to come. GC2 UI sure had issues, but I could live with them. Now with all the added stuff coming with DA, those UI quirks are starting to catch my eye even more. I love a game with alots of options but not too informative/illogical UI can do alot to hinder that enthusiasm. Like some said, diplomacy screen has been quite bad UI wise
Actually GC2 is littered with these kinds of illogical little quirks. No doubt its because the team is pumping out new features and they have limited human resources. But I would like all these little annoyances dealt with before SD starts implementing new features with patches. To sum it up: SD please spend as much time as needed to fix these minor quirks before start implementing new stuff. I love the new features ofcourse, but some of these illogical quirks make the whole product fee
Glad to see somebody else take intrest in UI also! I have been rather dissapointed by the lack of intrest in UI development by these forums. People do seem to be rather excited in discussing balancing issues and other features, but there are hardly any threads about UI. The only UI enchantment I see in DA betas is the thing where you can choose which direction you can launch ships from orbit. Hardly anything that blows you mind off, but lets hope SD adds more enchantments to UI as they
1. Combat enchantments. More complex ground combat for sure and maybe formations on ship combat. 2. More weapon techs, just plain old rocket/laser/mass driver are getting boring as hell. I would like to see turrets, targetting computers all these kinda things. Basicly anything to make combat more appealing. 3. Get rid of SB micromanagement, most lamest thing in this game. Darn, I actually have more wishes in my list than 3. I agree with arstal that diplomacy parts coul
getting 10-20,000 rp a turn from a single planet by arranging 16 starbases in four sectors around one planet with max research facilities, tech capital, etc. Would you consider this an exploit, or would it be possible for the AI to plan something like this? Man thats insane! Starbases giving planetary bonuses are nice and all but its these kinda
Well something needs to be doned to Espionage system IMHO. I did have a little voice in back of my head whispering that checking out planets without actually planting spies was too easy. I do not know which way of handling this problem would be the best as I think the whole Espionage system at its current state is way too shallow. The whole espionage scheme can be wrapped up in the following phrase, disable building, nullify another spy. This really does not get me too excited
