1.3 AI is better than 1.2 there is no doubt about it. But yes AI does still build massive amounts of transports. In my latests 1.3 game Arcaens builded only transports. I repeat all their planets were full of transports and there was no ship with attacking strenght. Planet building is much better and actually I lost my first 1.3 game on Tough. So its getting better but hopefully Brad can fix the AI:s ultimate love towards transports.

It seems that auto survey does know exactly where anomalies are. This has been the case with all versions of GC2, not just the 1.3 beta 1.

Yep the language setting made a difference here too. Too bad I have English version of XP in use, so I cannot help you out CariElf. Hopefully you guys can fix the most annoying difficulty setting bug too.

Well I have Radeon X1900XT with latest 6.6 catalyst and planet lights show up and then again don´t. So the light behaviour is very erratic, which leads me to believe its a coding issue. I have tryed all the previous GC2 versions and multiple ATI catalyst versions and I cannot say that the light have ever worked 100%

Its not called beta for nothing. If the official 1.2 crashes like the beta, then you have a valid point. Post your debug.err and present your case well, maybe then it will get fixed too.

Thought to start your basic bug report thread, since there are couple glaring bugs to be found. The game is patched in this order. Original game from cd -> 1.2 official patch from SD -> 1.3 beta patch from SD. 1. Yor and Thalan ship models lack all jewelry. This is on race selection screen and in game. 2. Planets are full of mountain terrain and all tiles aligned horizontally. I have tryed this one only with Yor couple times. No idea if other races suffer the megalo mo

Well the first step to add personality to races would be to add different kinda goverments for each race. It would not take too much effort to generate unique goverment names for different races. In example Thalans would have some sort of insectoid hive thing going while Robotic Yor could have different levels of core processors etc. I have brought this one up to discussion couple times but it has not generated much discussion, maybe its a bad idea <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/s

Good finds! I have actually thought once or twice about non habitable planets looking like earth etc, but somehow ignored it. Good that you brought this one up and with very detailed explanation of the situation.

Gah all this extra work from SD makes my eyes misty I mean 1.3 was said to be purely bug fixes, no more features. And here we have frogboy talking about new UI stuff. Thats great stuff, Iam glad I pre-ordered DA on the first day that it was possible Jack-Jack: That would be nice

Non taken Yes well since the beta is coming out tomorrow, guess wanting a half hurry made change log does not suit any purpose anymore. One thing that puzzles me still is the question, is 1.3 patch going to be the final patch to GC2? Since I remember reading somewhere Frogboy stating that this will be the "first" 1.3 patch. My memory could be wrong. Having witnessed the great

I very much doubt it. SD alrdy has its hands full fixing all the bugs with current supported OS. I just don´t see the point by starting officially supporting a OS that is currently in beta stage. To me its just like begging for trouble. edit: Looks like you got a better reply from a in house source @18# In my part of the world copy/pasteing a change log does not take

They arent exactly working as advertised maybe. Or atleast it seems so in my games, Iam no expert in coding or texturing, but it seems city light are ON no matter which side you watch the planet. Kinda looks silly having white dots on light side of the planet. As I said, I have no idea should they work like this, just that it looks weird. Plus the light dots usually show up on water tiles too, which is also weird <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.gif

Yep my dramatics went bit overboard You could feed the raging fan mob by throwing us a bone or two. Maybe tell us in general what areas of AI has been enchanted in 1.3? Keeps us settled for the couple extra days

29 Replies 29,999 Views

Two words "oh Cr*p". If there was actually good games to play at the moment (new ones) the dissapointment would not be so great. But no good in hiding it, Iam waiting 1.3 like a rising moon over here

I have noticed that in games where Tech Trade is allowed, all AI seem to get same weapons. Logically they trade around so thats how it starts. But as the weapon animations on mass and missile techs are most annoyingly slow, I tend to go with beam weapons

To me it is foolish to say "why does this game have to be better if none other is?". GC2 has good thing going for it, I just hope they recognize that diplomacy/politics part of the game is really shallow. So the obvious guestion is, why not try to make the game better if there is a chance?

20 Replies 11,055 Views

I agree with the OP. Frogboy really deserves much credit about the AI , but it will get you only so far if the game is limited in other areas. In this case the diplomacy/politics. As reaver said, the diplomacy/politics part of the game will get some loving in expansion pack, how much is yet to be seen. But atleast there is hope
