This is one of countless stories of tragedy that have come out of the Second Iraq War. Matt Maupin, a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army, was the first soldier kidnapped in this conflict, back in 2004. He was just twenty years old then. He used to work at Sam's Club in the small town of Batavia, OH to make extra money for college. For the same reason, he j
That was my point. No-one else has solutions to the problem but you are quick to condemn any efforts at resolving the problem.Who is better off at trying? Carter may well fail but please tell me who your new peacemaker is!But he's not being a peacemaker, he is bolstering the image of terrorists while undermining the sitting US government. It is unprofessional, foolish, Unconstitutional and could even be illegal.Even though I don't think much of his administ

I finished Prey recently. It may be that in my old age I have developed a short attention span (I blame my wife), but unlike many other reviewers, I really felt as though the game wore out its proverbial welcome, like the friend or family member that you're very fond of who visits for Christmas but won't take a hint that you're ready to go to bed. <span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"

This may be the shallowest discussion of theodicy I've ever seen--or is it anti-evolution? I'm a bit confused at this point. Is it really so easy to dismiss the problem of evil by saying that a) free will exists and b) God does not "micromanage" and "works in mysterious ways"? Really?! So far most of this discussion has revolved around moral evil; okay, what about natural evil, which I believe TexasWahine has brought up before? What about the thousands of tsunami victims, people

Erathoniel, Good pick. There are several items in the RPG, Strategy, and Adventure categories that I find intriguing. It's a mixed bag of stuff, to be sure, and a lot of the items look like really amateur efforts, but not only does it include staples of preferred freebie lists of the past 6 months like Sam and Max Season 1 Episode 4 and C&C Gold, but much more obscure items like the 1.2Gb FMV adventure Fate by Numbers, a Dutch graduate student project. As much as people seem to loathe F

Hm. It does look like good exposure for the software and for Stardock, but much of the feedback up to this point has been negative. Obviously, some percentage of internet posters are people who don't really have anything better to do than complain, but one of the criticisms of the MyColors client seems to be that only Diamond comes with the installer. I'm not personally complaining, because I'm an ODNT subscriber, but for the newbies who download this client through a third-party link a

Well, as a print magazine, GFW is dead, so those who didn't like it can pee on its metaphorical grave, I suppose. See this link: [link="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167296"]WWW Link[/link] My opinion, though, is that it was a damn good magazine that had interesting and often rather offbeat interviews and feature stories that you can't find in PC Gamer. Total PC Gaming, a UK mag, is the only similar print magazine I've seen on the market and it's got a pretty hefty price tag for
My 2 Cents: I have not seen all of the game-based movies, but the worst I've seen is In The Name Of The King. I sure hope Uwe Boll stays away from C&C and Galciv. The best I've seen is/are the Resident Evil series.
Well, I haven't seen the Dungeon Siege movie, but BloodRayne was abominable and so was Doom. I did enjoy the last two RE movies, but I liked the second one best. Also, I thought Hitman was

Jedi Academy was definitely light-years ahead of JK2 in terms of technology and gameplay, although I personally enjoyed the story in JK2 more, and by the end of JA, I was getting a bit tired of dealing with all of the Force-using enemies. I'm really disappointed that LucasArts chose not to bring The Force Unleashed onto the PC, especially in light of the fact that it's coming to virtually every other platform. Maybe they'll pull a BioWare and tell us after it's been out for

Hm. Yep, If BDBF is right about that being an onboard adapter, it won't really do too many games or much intensive graphics-processing of any kind. So you'd definitely want to look into a discrete graphics card. Anyway, I'll be quiet and let some of the pros like AVMan fill up the rest of this thread. :)

If it's pre-built, you probably don't need to worry too much about the power supply; the manufacturer is not likely going to put together a set of components that won't work with one another. However, it may be important if you choose to upgrade your video card. Jouketje is right: the 256MB 8400 will let you play most games out there on the market with no trouble, but for super-graphically intensive games like Crysis and other bleeding-edge titles, you may only be able to run at minimal settings

Well, I have a silly question: do WinStep and WindowBlinds work together harmoniously? In other words, if I'm running WinStep will by NextStart menu be skinned to look like the current 'blind I have running? Also, I realize this may not be the right forum for this question, but I guess I'm trying to figure out it if this software is right for me: what are the key differences between WinStep Xtreme and Aston Shell?

Glad to read about the MyColors discounts. I'm still wondering about whether MyColors is intended to ultimately replace ThemeManager or not? Reading between the lines of everything I've seen about OD08 and also the fact that the new site link labelled "Premium Suites" takes you to the MyColors website leads me to think that Stardock is abandoning the old .suite files in favor of .theme packages and will henceforth be producing .themes exclusively. If this speculation on my part is accurate, will

Hm. I had trouble installing updates yesterday. Impulse updated itself and when I tried to update to the latest DesktopX, it downloaded the files, declared that it was installing the update and sat for over an hour. The same thing happened when I tried to update ThemeManager. :(
