Hey, I have what's probably a dumb question. I have set up defensive perimeters around a few planets that include starbases, missile platforms and regeneration bays; unfortunately, my forces stationed there tend to run away from the protective cordon when meeting enemy forces and pirates that come calling. How do I get them to stop doing this and attack from their current positions?
Quoting warreni, reply 21I'm sure there must have been some discussion of this previously, but what the heck was the rationale for creating a hard-copy CE with no CD-key? Steam is required to play the game, CD-key or not. It goes through Steam, so it needs a Steam key. They can't exactly include a CD-key when the game doesn't even install from a CD, now can they? Unfortunately, I believe I have to inform you that,
I'm sure there must have been some discussion of this previously, but what the heck was the rationale for creating a hard-copy CE with no CD-key? I've been playing games for upwards of 30 years and I've never heard of this sort of thing before. I kinda like the idea of being able to pick up a nice steelbook and soundtrack CDs for <$10, but why would I pay $50-60 for a CE that doesn't give me the ability to actually play the game? Doesn't this sorta defeat the point of b
I noticed War of Magic isn't even in the store anymore. If I have an unregistered copy of the War of Magic CE, will get a free upgrade to Fallen Enchantress when I register my key? Thanks, Brian
For what it's worth, several studies (including this one by skeptic Richard Muller) have found that "heat island" effects are minimal and have little bearing on the conclusions of such analyses.
Some sort of…design understanding that 99% of Windows users will be using this as a desktop computer, not a tablet. I love tablets. I have several. I’ll happily use Windows 8 as a tablet. I have an issue that doesn't seem to be mentoned specifically in any of the links. My sub lapsed about three days ago, and when I try to restore some of the archived apps (specifically, WB, SoundPackager, and IconPackager), I get an error dialog stating that XX must be registered before the archive can be restored. Is there some workaround for this or am I just boned?
Meanwhile...many, maybe most Users/Customers are not affected in the slightest.
This. I still think that very few master skin customers actually take the time/trouble and have the know-how to modify them. Making it slightly more difficult to do so I don't see affecting a large number of people in a huge way, certainly not enough to offset the benefits.
Oh one more thing.. if people RELY as you put it, on skin sales, why then does stardock take 50% of the profits? That's sound more like organized crime to me. I mean i don't have exact numbers but i'm sure stardocks yearly profit is a VERY high number, yet there are skinners getting under $100 a month? These are the profits they RELY upon, does stardock RELY on that other $100 to put food on the table?
I can answer that. Mind you, I don't work for Stardock, so it's no

I think the animosity a skinner feels over having their work pirated isn't just about the money -- it's about control, ownership, justice, entitlement, strength.
I disagree. Netbooks have USB and Firewire ports along with other input and out put devices. The Ipad does not. Of course you disagree. A USB port is not a requirement for functionality for me, especially when most things can be accessed via the cloud through means like Dropbox, etc. I have a netbook, I have an iPad......Netbooks are mute now. Netbooks are actually computers capable of r
I was just checking out the weekend buys at impulsedriven.net and it looks like The Witcher is on sale for the low price of $10 this weekend. If you enjoy role-playing games and you haven't played it yet, you should run not walk to the Impulse site, and get it now. It's a terrific game at a great price. Here's hoping CD Projekt makes The Witcher 2 at least as good as this one!
Okay, I don't work for SD, but it's always been my understanding that this is not a legal issue in the sense that Jafo means; it's a question of the contractual agreement between the publisher and the distributor.
Happy birthday, sir!
Congratulations to all!

Well, the moderators don't generally like Bryce here; I think it's because the general quality of its output is not up to par. Many people use Vue, PhotoShop, PaintShop Pro, TerraGen, 3DSMax, and a variety of other tools (some free, most rather expensive). For the most part, it tends to come down to a combination of your patience, your skill with your chosen software, and your talent as an artist. I tend to lack all three so I haven't attempted to submit a wallpaper in a very long time.
Happy birthday!
Hm. I have to agree with Aesir on this one. Essentially cutting people off from their apps because they failed to archive without at least providing some kind of substantial warning (by this I mean a colorful pop-up box at a minimum, not an EULA) seems like shabby customer service.
Great choice! A talented artist with an impressive collection of work. :CONGRAT:

Not to burst anyone's bubble here, but I think my understanding of this is correct: there is no discount for pre-ordering OD 2.0. If you already own OD 1.x, you can upgrade to 2.0 at a discount (and, as was pointed out earlier, there's a 25% discount for ODNT subscribers on new purchases), but if this is your first purchase of a "plus" version of OD, you'll be paying $19.95.
Congratulations to promotees!
