Turns out it was my default Wallpaper folder (which is extremely huge) that DeskScapes tried to get thumbnails for, I guess. Soon as I removed the default folder for indexing, the issue was solved.

Hmm, what's with DeskScapes extreme disc I/O at startup? It's trashing my disc. It keeps at insane I/O for minutes (until I closed the program).

Well, I wasn't pleased with the tens of spam ads in it; and the install texts didn't even appear properly aligned. But I managed to prevent it from starting up in msconfig. So I guess I can live with that. In more general terms, I really hate download managers like this: they kinda turn into a whole suite, as it were, with many ads, news itiems, etc. The only ever program I have accepted this from is my STEAM client. I just bought a licence for DeskScapes. Just want to let you know that this will be my last Stardock product ever, as instead of giving me a normal download link, I'm forced to install a crappy, spammy downloadmanager, called Impule. Good-bye.
