Hold on, VistaSrv.exe was runing also. After closing that I was able to close WBVista.exe.

Gonna give this a bump.

When I reboot, WB configuration opens everytime, even though I am running Windows Aero (Ultimate).
I close Wb config and WB Vista is still running. If I click on "show processes from all users" VistaSrv.exe is also running. Shut that down and I can shut down WBVista.exe.

WB config shouldn't be opening on reboot and therefore no WB processes should be running.. I believe.

My WBVista.exe is ALWAYS running. Even when I don't have WB skinning anything and I've applied Aero. Honestly, it's still a little buggy for me so I have it installed, but not skinning. The damn exe still runs all the time. It's stupid if you ask me. The only way to keep it from running is to just uninstall it.

yah,no prog should ever assume you cant live without it...or have have automatic systray rights(WB gives you a choice there).
If unloaded,it should go away.(tho the only reason I ever unload WB is to check Luna or Aero defaults...still dont want some extra processes potentially still affecting what I see)

Uninstalling WB solved the problem. I need to get more familiar with Vista before I start messing it up anyways.

I am dual booting XP so as long as Luna is geting skinned, I am fine for now. Aero ain't so bad.

It does the same thing in XP Train. Still runs a process even if it's not skinning. I think is stupid. Since you're well known in the WB community, have you taken this up with SD on why they wrote the code this way? I don't like it.

There's an EXE I remember seeing all the time even when WB was unloaded. Why does WBVista.exe run even when WB is not skinning? I think that's the more important question here.

Whatever dude! Listen to yourself for once. Hey, can you tell me why when I close 100% of all other apps they don't show as running anymore? WOW, what a concept? You guys at SD must be living in a fantacy world where you think your code is "perfect". Obviously it's not even close to standard.... You guys can't even skin everything that Aero skins in Vista.... let alone skin everything without some kind of error. So, if you're using the "native GUI" skinning engine to do things, why is it so damn buggy for you, but not MS? Face it guys, a lot of your limitations come because your code in WB6 was designed to work with XP mostly... that's why everyone with Vista is experiencing the same lame ass limitations people with XP are. I got a novel idea for you... how about you make two versions? It might be worth it then. It's like you guys have no project planning skills or something. Let me ask you something? Does SD work out of a basement or garage? I ask this because if you're really as big as you say you are then there really should be no development cost issues or limitations on what you can or cannot do... especially if you tout yourselves as being backed by MS themselves to some extent.

I agree that when I close an app I expect it to close.  But I can't say I really care if an app stays open if it's not doing any harm.  My wife has Quicktime open all the time in her systray and almost never uses it.  Dose she even notice?  No.  Does she care?  No.

Anyone can find any number of things to get their panties in a bunch if they try and if it brings them pleasure . .  more power to them.  As long as they are polite about it . . I could care as much as . . . as . . .having a service running longer than expected.

And really . . no need to rant at all  Be cool.  It's more fun and more effective.  Right?

Talk about Vista and WB running low memory. Look this one over...

Because you are particularly lucky, or unobservant.

I have several proggies that end up more TSR than actually functional....that's why there are currently 64 processes running on my machine...

the fact remains that the user should have the choice of having a program running or not.  Because of this, I will be uninstalling this application and any other that feels it has to run on my computer unless 'I' have a reason to run a program.  In my book this program is close to being spyware / a virus or anything else if it won't go away when I tell it to.  there's no reason for a utility or game to be running if I don't want it to.
