Perhaps one faction that wants to 'destroy all humans' versus one that wants to focus on replicating more? Military vs. Civilian tree basically. Or one side has gone Borg and wants to enslave/cyborgize/something organic life instead of killing them. Just going by popular scifi, evil robot empires tend to either want wipe everyone out (Cylons, Daleks), or turn everyone into more of them (Borg, Cybermen).

Actually, I was mistaken on #2. The text under the effects states it boosts friendlies, but the text at the top states that it effects hostile ships. I was reading the wrong part, so it's a typo, not a bug.
Playing R4 for Diplomacy, great mod, I'm very impressed with the amount of time and effort you've put into. Couple things I've noticed so far in play: 1)Is there a way to reduce the dangerous asteroids' hit points? I like them as a concept, but they tend to take a rather frustrating amount of time to burn down in the early game. 2)The Replicators's dreadnought's weapon enhancement ability shows a negative (red) number for 'chance to
I'm getting the same problem- My ships have overwhelming armor, out the Korx had more, lighter ships. They took me out without taking barely any damage themselves. I know the attacker no longer has the advantage, but if my fleet's armor is better than their fleet's damage, shouldn't I win?
The tech descriptions are great. They're funny enough that I quote them to people when I tell them about the game.
Good is actually good for playing a militarisitc race. You have better defensive tech and AIs are more likely to surrender to you.
If you think the Dregnin are up to something, then what must the Atlarians be doing with all their goody-goodness? In this letter, I will do my best to make my arguments against Netromancer clear and articulate. I plan to utilize numerous examples and maybe even some occasional humor so as not to strain your patience as I delve into immense detail about how Netromancer displays the paranoid malice that is the hallmark of true antidisestablishmentarianism. Let us note first of all that
I spent all night trying make the Gravity Accelerators work as a percentage, not a flat bonus. I couldn't figure out how. But I did move them up in the tech tree- they're under Extended Life Support, they give a +2 bonus, and the cost a little less. I'll play tonight to see if it's balanced.
I agree with some of your points. I think I'll make a mod to shore up the weaknesses of some of these improvements. Mind Control Center: It may need a better name, but damn it kicks ass. Anyone does not want their economy doubled is a moron. But I think I'll change to 100% Influence. Secret Police: There's a thread out their that explains exactly how it works. From what they said their, it's numbers are actually pretty impressive. But I might make it 30%. Propoga
The PQ is definately a good investment. Higher PQ increases the inhabitants morale, population growth and I believe economic output. That and you get extra tiles.
money, money, money, money, influence, money, troops. Just watch how the Torians always come to be powerful in most games.
I play it on my laptop all the time (it's the only PC I own). My only problem with it is the overheating. I solve that by running my ceiling fan overhead while I play.
Would you link to your site please?
People writing stuff like this makes me frustrated. What your telling me? Am playing the game the wrong way? what am I doing wrong? I don't find it my responsability to have to find out "the right way" to play it. I played this game enough and I know what experiance I made, as I said my last 2 games on beta 1.2 were no better concering this. I
The middle green color shows up well.
What I've noticed is that it's mostly alignment and diplomatic relations. The Ai prefers to surrender to a Good or nuetral player, and one it has good (al least "friendly") diplomtic relations with. If you blitzkrieg a weak AI who already like you (and you're good) you'll probably end with them surrendering to you. Otherwise, I think more complicated factors come in.
Or players can choose to play as the Drengin Empire, the antithesis of all that is good and holy in the universe. Some would say they are ugly, but they look like fuzzy orcs to me—I want to tickle them. He's getting eaten for sure.
One last thing that has been gnawing at me for some time now. When editing a civilization's attributes, the changes appear permanent, and even erase previous attributes instead of adding on to them. For example, when I tried increasing the loyalty of the Yor by +10, it eliminated the innate loyalty bonus of the Yor. It remains this way and I have been unable to reverse th
The number of minor races goes down when the number of major races goes up. If you have 9 AI players then you'll be luicky to have one minor, but if you have less, you'll get more. I'm playing a large map right now, and have 3 minors and 7 majors (actually 6- the Thalans were annexed into the Terran Republic). But 3 minors with that set up is pretty normal for me.
There's a UP issue that can limit speed on constructors. Someone else had posted a simiiar problem, and it turned to be that.
That would great. Right now Military Starbases are modifier production centers, not forts. I'd like the AI to have to attack my starbases first because it's raining 10 pt of damage on them a turn.
A poll conducted on an online gaming fansite sugested that: Multiplayer fanboys that did NOT buy the game due to no multiplayer outnumber those fanboys that bought the game by a HUGE margin More like. MD Which site? I don't personally wouldn't want to play GC2 as multiplayer. When I want multip
It never asked me for a code either. Ever.
#1 i strongly dislike "hero" units. Unless it's part of a campaign. Though it would interesting for each race to have a hero "hull" type that the can be designed in the ship editor. Each race would have one non-upgradeable, non-leveling, overpowered ship. it could be self-balancing in that the creation of one hero unti would lead to an arms race to be able to take it down. The hardest part would be to avoid "Hero rushing" early in the game. I would hope the destruction of a "hero" un
Nope. The magizine one is much longer and better written.
