The most recent update of Impulse solved the issue for me (where removing the xml files did nothing) and WB7b2 is now working perfectly (or so it seems, so far) under Win7 x64 Ultimate. To be honest I prefer the old UI over the new one (no need to change something just for the sake of change in my opinion), but I'm not fuzzy. Thanks for sorting this out folks!

Yes indeedy, 3 times now. Same thing happens every time - it comes up showing only WB6, I reset and update and when it comes back up after the update it shows WB7 while logging in, but it disappears immediately after log-in is complete, giving me no chance to install it. Frickin' frustrating stuff. Edit: yeah, definitively support time I guess.
Thanks for that mate, much appreciated! Unfortunately installing WB6 won't wash here though, as I'm running Win7 and just get adviced that WB6 is incompatible. WB6 was removed already when I upgraded in place from Vista x64 yesterday, as that was a pre-requisite of the OS upgrade.
I've got "show pre-release versions" duly ticked and I've now reset the data 7 or 8 times, but still no joy. WB7 actually shows up briefly while the data is updates after being reset, but once the update is complete it disappears without giving me a chance to install. Anybody have a clue what I'm doing wrong, or not doing that I should do? Getting kinda desperate here....
Totally off-topic matey, but I'll bite the troll's hook regardless. "My quess is you are using a trial version and do not actually use a server as a role model." So? "If you are! Then why are you using GUI with a server? It would be very un-needed by any stan-point." If such was the case, what business would it be of yours? "If you have plans to use that server properly - remove the themes and any type of graphics being used." I'll use it exa
May not be I guess, but considering it is almost a carbon copy of Server 2008, only with a different set of features.....
Forgot to mention that de-installing WB did indeed restore the Help funtionality in Server 2008. Since that's a big deal while familiarising myself with the OS and, most importantly, Hyper-V, I really can't see myself using WB until this gets fixed.
I just installed WB6.2 on my machine running Server 2008 (I didn't have any version of WB on it before) and it appears that it has broken the Help feature. When I attempt to start Help from the start menu or from any links, Taskbar simply freezes for 30-40 seconds or so and no help system is loaded when it frees up again. Hopefully this can be sorted out, as it is a pretty big drawback if this applies to everyone and not only myself.
Edit: you're right. I guess Theme Manager must have done something when I installed it, even though I didn't open it. Anyway, I removed it and then applied an icon pack with IP and voilà! All's back to normal.
Worked just fine here. Now all I want is my non-pixelated start menu icons back please.
Yup, I installed Theme Manager. Should I try removing it?
Well, I had WB working ok(ish) and then I had to go and try the beta.... It broke everything once more (under Vista x64), only worse. No skin on startup, no changing of skins, no nada. Got rid of it, but the start menu icons are still broken (severely pixelated) even without WB installed. That's it, I'll stick with Aero until this is (hopefully) sorted out completely.
I've got this as well now, or a variant of it. In my case the quicklaunch, system tray and start menu icons get pixelated and change size. It didn't happen immediately, but once I checked out and swapped between a few different skins all the icons got buggered up. Looks fairly horrible really.... WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6.0 (build 49 x86 - Vista Edition) - 64 bit OS WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this P
Just p1ssed off - all you 'Vista 64 is better' don't know JACK! Try running any high end 3D app and you'll learn FAST. Dammit XP x64 is the last best Windows version that will EVER be released (just slightly ahead of Win2K SP4). If you disagree, list the HIGH END apps that run better for you in Vista x64 or STFU. Just who are you since you get to tell people to shut up dude? I have extensive experience with ever
Agrippa: I have actually seen WindowBlinds 6 running without an issue on a number of 2k3 server machines here. If in the future you do decide to set aside StyleXP, give WB(6) another try and have problems, feel free to post here in the forums or shoot an email to and we can likely get things going for you. -Mike Hey, this was quite a while back so I guess you fixed whatever was wrong after I stopped paying attention. <img src="htt
OK, some nice but weird stuff here. Installed and un-installed from the standalone distribution a few times just to check, but without any joy at all. Was going to leave it at that, but then I decided to give it one more try, this time installing from SDC since it now appears there (didn't before). Well what do you know, it worked! Whether it's down to you guys having made changes in the program today, or just some plain weirdness, those of you still having problems should give this
We will do some testing and I will post an update on this thread later today. Any joy?
This suggestion goes for all of us x64 users with problems I take it?
WB should work on 32 bit 2003 server. Though using a server as a desktop OS is not quite what Microsoft had in mind. It doesn't though, or rather it doesn't work as intended at least. I can't actually remember what was wrong, seeing as it's a good while since I used 2003, but I posted here at the time with whatever the problem was. Never got it to work correctly, so I went with StyleXP instead. As for using 2003 as a workstation, there's
