Microsoft announces Windows Vista requirements Not as bad as you might think Right, worse than I could ever think. I don't do 3D or video processing so why would I need such a machine. And I'm afraid that all the additional resources required by Vista will be spent on Aero. Too expe

Well, it is not necessary to comment it any further, visit the given link. Some improvements are made, especially with the Trace (now called PowerTrace) program, some new tools and tool improvements. PHOTO-PAINT is still there (although Corel has bought Jasc and Paint Shop Pro). Prices (pre-order) are full $399, upgrade $179. Trial can be downloaded now as well.

Finally I'm back here, after having some internet problems (I was out for a month). I'm glad it's all fine as it used to be. Continue like this and we'll have again plenty of fun, something valuable to learn and something nice to put on our desktops.

At WinHEC, Microsoft announced (could be said confirmed) that NGSCB (codename Palladium) will not be finished by the release of Longhorn. Anyway, Microsoft doesn't give up, and we shall have some parts of NGSCB in Longhorn.

Intel has entered the competition too... I'm not very happy with some of the ideas that Microsoft realised. No support for 16-bit, not full support for 32-bit, it's all pretty negligent.

Is it me, but didn't this same type of thread happen not too long ago? Yeah, but it was only for XP : Home or Pro.

Fuzzy Logic, mostly you're right. I've had some little problems but none of them were critical and they haven't caused damage. Anyway, we have to admit that security is not as it should be. But Linux as well is not that secure as we think. It's only lucky that hackers hate Billy, not Linus. In February on RSA security conference, Richard Ford from Technology Institute of Florida and Herbert Thompson from Security Innovation Company made a rese

XP Pro. I plan to take Linux and 2003 Server trial because of learning and comparing these two with my XP. And if there will be Longhorn beta, I'll try it too, but I think I won't get final Longhorn right away. Maybe I'll wait for some time to see if there are some problems with that.

This thing happens to me when I upload something and it comes back to normal after a few hours (probably after the skin I've uploaded is accepted or rejected). Can anybody help me with this https://www.wincustomize.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=188&AID=70841

OK, I've uploaded that 500 KB icon pack, and after uploading that My Skins page was cleared again. I thought - it'll be fine later so I've uploaded Messenger icon and 9 bootskins with old windows splashes. And, none of these 10 skins passed through moderation. Were they rejected or they didn't get to moderation at all because of the problem?

For end users, it is better to wait for a free public version ( not sure about a freebie in the OS situation ), or the offically released version. Why not, for example you can get XP 64-bit beta free trial. OK, that was about availability of Longhorn, but the topic is about Longhorn icons.

This kind of view (actually nothing else but thumbnail view) is now possible (in XP) for Corel files, Power Point files and maybe something else. It looks incredibly ugly! The icon has bad colours palette, is pixelised... For text files small picture means nothing. All of them look the same. It would be useful only on huge monitors. If the icon looks the same as the original file zoomed out, then it might be useful to somebody. Anyway, I prefer classic

More problems have come. Yesterday after uploading Time & Date icon (https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SkinID=467&LibID=39&comments=1) my my skins page reported I have no skins at all(???!!!-I've got 16 now). Now it's alright, but these problems occur randomly and I don't know what will be next. Also, I can't upload 500 KB icon pack for misc. icons (it's a

LOL, LOL... "most innovative and secure desktop operating system ever created". "Tiger's groundbreaking new features like Spotlight and Dashboard will change the way people use their computers, and drive our competitors nuts trying to copy them," How can someone speak like this in public? Who is being copied here and who copies? Even the Dashboard appeares at Wincustomize. But not Apple's, of course. It appeares that Mac is
