There are some funny headlines here, Zoo. I have to say, though, the jellyfish one is not so funny. Living where I do, we get a lot of Bluebottles, or Portugese Man Of War jellyfish. These are one of the few that sting and their numbers are only getting worse. Means the beach is off limits, unfortunately.
Toni is awesome at making from scratch food. She makes pasta, muffins, cookies, cakes and pies. She also does things like buys cheap shoulders and makes stuffed rolled roasts. As for bread, well we have a bread maker that is so easy to use, even I can't fail at it. We also grow our own vegetables and try and buy as much as we can local and fresh. The other thing we do is buy a lot in bulk and use our freezer. I'm going to have a go at making chutney when
Toni and I make a habit of going through all our stuff to get rid of anything we don't use, don't like anymore or are only holding onto because we think we should. It always amazes me how much we accumulate and how quickly. We live in a small two bedroom apartment with very little storage and any storage space is gold. My biggest guilt is the amount of DVDs, books and CDs we have. We keep saying we should go through and cull as many as we can but never do.
I really like the driveway art too. Any clues as to who did it? Most of the playground parks here have a good portion of them covered with a shade cloth or two. It means the parks still get plenty of use, even on stinking hot days. Maybe you could petition your local council or equivilent into doing the same. It is also a great way of protecting kids from sunburn etc.
I have not watched much at all, save for a little bit of the BMX competition. Most of the events hold little or no interest to me, save for the location. I would love to go to Beijing one day.

I think the definition of impulse is multi-faceted. I'm kinda one to act on my creative impulses a lot. I think creative people have to in order to keep their creativity flowing. A lot of this stems from how and when the muse comes on us. But I'm not going to act on the impulse to chase after some cutey who gives me a warm smile. If this were the case, I'd never stop chasing. ;)
I don't have a problem with any unresolved issues - I'm so damned ignorant, I've forgotten. A simple man is a happy man, or so they say. In binary, zero is very powerful. And the absence of is what Zen is all about too.

Chris, Thanks mate. No one really inspired this piece. I am a bit of a fan of writers like Roald Dahl, Ray Bradbury and Philip K Dick; all exceptional short story writers. I was trying to write something that reminded me of some of their stories; a seemingly ordinary situation twisted into something bizarre and/or other worldly. Doc, I see what you are trying to say, in some respects. But in razing rainforests, we are destroying habitats, ecosystems and species. This, in turn, can have devastating consequences for much greater areas than previously thought. If all the rainforests in the world are gone, we essentially loose the 'lungs' of our planet. Who knows what this could potentially mean.
This is a great hypothetical question. For me, the answer would be a resounding no but, as Sodaiho suggests, I would do everything I could to ensure the child didn't kill. According to Buddhist philosophy (and my most basic understanding of them) violence, or 'deadly force', as you put it, is never an option. There is a Dean Koontz novel kind of about this too. I think it might be called 'Lightning'.

It this weren't so sad, it would be hilarious. As for men liking being groped, well I have to say it would depend on the circumstances. The very few times I've been groped by a stranger has been in nightclubs, when the girls in question are so drunk and/or out of it, the whole incident was unsexy and, if anything, a turn off.
Like you, Boudica, I am completely against guns. Thankfully, Australia has much more sensible gun control lawas than America. But the very idea of a gun-toting teacher is just asking for all sorts of trouble.
