Is anyone any nearer to solving this as I've still not heard from Support and I am now beginning to think I wasted my money and got ripped off by Stardock.
The issue was discovered on a Friday and it is now the start of business on Monday.
"Fences is the world's most popular desktop enhancement for Windows®. What makes it so compelling is that what it does is so obviously useful and necessary that it is amazing that no one has thought of it before." Er... Windows 3.1??
I have teased the lead dev since prototypes that he should have called Fences "Program Manager" but then he hits me and I stop for a while. :)
Am I purchasing the major version (i.e. updates until 3.0)?
Yes.
I would love to just pay for Object Desktop but at the price with the number of applications I will actually use (probably just fences and start8) I'm not sure that the price is really worth i
Many find that they use programs in the suite that they didn't think they would. Thankfully, there is a discount if you upgrade from a stand-alone app to ODNT. Any way you go . . yo
We've reproduced the issue here and are looking into it.
You can install non-metro apps to do those tasks and you won't go to Metro
You look to be using v1. That's not been supported in years. Time to upgrade.
If you really like DeskScapes you can purchase the stand-alone and download that forever . . but ODNT is and always has been a subscription. Think of it like you would a magazine subscription. If you let your Newsweek subscription lapse, you can still read all the old issues (that you saved) but you just will not get any new ones nor will the publisher send you the old ones without paying them.
What OS are you running? What do you see instead of the following:
Have you disabled the setting underneath that one?
Avatars don't show up on new posts, just responses. Can you post the URLs where you saw all these things? Or post a screenshot somewhere on the web and then link to it here? Our site can be pretty sprawling and customized for the user so finding what you are referring to an be a pain. Thanks.
What OS are you using? What security software?
No need to double post. Responded via your other post.
The settings of ObjectDock are stored in separate files in one folder/Directory. To back up your ObjectDock 2 settings, you can simply save the settings files: http://sd.stardock.com/Rosco/pics/od2_save_settings.png To restore your settings, just put your backed up files into that folder, and you'll be good to go. So back up, uninstall, re-install, restore.
Please email support if you have not already so we can look at logs. In the meantime, verify that you don't have any security apps blocking internet access.

I wonder how my textures are doing . . .:)
okay, so the following thread is actually wrong? https://forums.stardock.com/433848
It is out of date.
Please see https://www.stardock.com/support/software_eula.aspx for Stardock's standard EULA You will need to purchase a license for each machine. And yes, the intent is that coupons are only for single products.
Please download and run the following utility: http://sd.stardock.com/SDSupportTool.exe This is a tool that we use to gather relevant log files and basic information about your computer. Once the utility finishes running, please send the .zip file it creates on the desktop to support@stardock.com
SDC uses the scheduled task mechanism in Windows to update. Do you have any security that may be preventing that?
My records show you are valid until 10/19/2014 You can access your registrations and download links by logging in with your Stardock account at https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products or installing through Stardock Central (currently in beta but available at https://www.stardock.com/products/stardockcentral/ ).
Currently Start8, Decor8, Fences 2, Multiplicity 2, Tiles, IconPackager, IconDeveloper ,and WindowFX 5 are designed to work with Windows 8. WindowBlinds and DeskScapes should be ready in early 2013. Other applications may or may not work. At this time though, they are not supported. We are updating more of our software as time goes on so keep an eye on our forums for more details.
Thanks.
