I won't claim to never have used warez. I *will* claim that my sytem is currently free of warez and has been for almost a year. If I like a piece of software, I will use it. If it costs money, I'll pay for it. If it doesn't, great. For example, I hate Photoshop (never could get the hang of masking). PSP is okay, but I use CorelDraw 8 and MS ImageComposer 1.5 (shipped with Frontpage way back when). Both are old programs, but they serve my purposes. I will admit to being
feline? *You* normal? God I hope there's a sarcastic expression on your face as you write that! ( ) Hehe. Anyway, I agree with you Larry. Tensions seem to be higher than ever. I think it's a natrual response. Many of us had gotten to a point where we cared little about anything that really mattered, instead focusing our energies on trivial things. After 9/11, many people (including people here) call
I'm with you on this one, paxx. Challenging ideas and mature debate are integral parts of any successful community. But such challenges/debates need to be kept to applying to the statements and opinions of people, and not insults hurled at the people themselves. Anyway, just wanted to say you summed up my thoughts on this very well, and I agree fully.
UIS3 may not be implemented yet, but it's obvious the inclusion of the XP-specific skinning has somehow changed how certain things (can) work in the (UIS2?) personality file. XP Jeans/Nature/Coppery all use code that isn't included in the tutorial for UIS2, as does Apartment and several other WindowBlinds3beta skins.
Actually, no. It's outdated now with the intro of the new UIS3 (or whatever it's called) format. But thanks nonetheless.
I absolutely love Alexandrie's "XP Nature" skin for WindowBlinds3. My only beef with it is the large, italicized font used for the taskbar items. So I went into the personality file to change them... ...And got completely lost. There are lots of font references, but I can't make heads or tails of them. Nor can I figure out how to add shadows to the text. Is the naming convention for fonts nailed down? Cause I don't get it... I tried loading the file into SkinStudio (despite the
Worst Mistake: I let the stress of my former job get to me so much that I became a completely ineffective manager and took my anger out on my employees. When this was finally pointed out to me, I voluntarily stepped down and changed jobs. Result: Not only did I pretty much start my career track over from scratch by changing positions, I treated some really good people really badly in the days leading up to it. The Bright Side: I love my new job, and it's given me a chance to le
I'm very glad to have read this. I just got back from being away from my PC for several days, and came on the boards to catch up. The first post my eyes fell across was the one that started this whole mess, and I was weary that I didn't see a response from you to the obvious personal attacks made against you, and the support those attacks got from a few members of this community. I went through something very similar to this a few weeks ago on another board (where I'm a *much* more acti
Man, I left for a few days. I come back, and this is the first thread I see. (Hard to miss with such an intriguing title). I won't pass judgement on I0c as a person, or on Brad as a person, based purely on this situation; that wouldn't be fair to either of them. But I will pass judgement on their actions: Brad deleted a news item submitted by I0c due to its potential legal ramifications for liable/slander (never understood the difference...). I0c, in turn, got mad at Brad for d
Ugh...Reincarnation has always interested me; I even believe in it after a fashion. But recycling? I don't think I like the idea of my soul being recycled...
feline: No, I wouldn't give my ideal partner a 10 Beauty / 0 Intelligence. She would at least have to be able to follow simple commands. So I'd say 9 Beauty / 1 Intelligence. Or maybe even 8/2, so she could cook an orginal meal every once in a while, and could sometimes anticipate my needs... misterME /me gives feline a chocolate bar, to keep her busy so she doesn't flame him too badly for
Hey, you know what? We left out points for Humility. And to answer Jafo's question, I have negative points in that.
Sounds like my weekends in college...
Um, *I* said that...
(BTW, it takes a couple of tries...)
Doreen, You can fly now! Just throw yourself at the ground real hard and miss.
Hmmm...I don't know. I guess I feel like *not* grieveing is simply, well, inhuman. And like I said, I'm not willing to give up my humanity. Now, I appreciate the whole evolutionary thing. That we'll continue to evolve, and the face of humanity will change. But I don't think we'll ever grow out of emotions. At leat I hope not. To me, that's a very sad thing. The truth is, I *want* to feel. And here's another something: What good is happiness when not contrasted against sadness o
T-Man, The idea of reaching perfection in Heaven comes from simple association in the Bible. Heaven is a place without sin. Sin is what makes man imperfect. Therefore, man is perfect in Heaven because he can't, by definition, harbor sin in Heaven. That's the way I was taught, growing up Nazarene (a strict "holiness" Protestant denomination). Of course, I've always had a hard time with this logic. You cannot be sinful in Heaven. Also, you cannot be unhappy in Heaven. Bu
Hmmm. I don't agree. I think the whole point of life is to give souls a playground in which to interact with one another. If we were all aspects of the same soul, what would be the point? A man can learn much more about himself from having a conversation with another than he can from staring into a mirror...
Crae, It matters not. Since you believe that nothing comes after this life, I don't think making the distinction between man and animal is at all relevant for you. I, on the other hand, believe I possess a soul; and while I love my two cats dearly, I don't think they possess souls. So I see a distinction. If, in fact, they *do* have souls, then I suppose they'll go wherever kitty-faith says they're supposed to go (catnip-covered fields littered with small defenseless mice and b
Tarkus, If they truly believed that's where they'd end up, then yes, I suppose they're in Heaven. Regardless of how misguided we may feel their actions were, and no matter the pain and heartache they caused, if their belief was true, then so will be their fate. The tricky point here is that the Muslim religion, on its tenets, sees such actions as unjustifiable and sinful. If any of those hijackers possessed the slightest doubt in their convictions, and thought that per
Notice I said "almost" anything... Obviously, typing isn't one of those things I ever got decently proficient with...
I think intelligence is overrated. I firmly believe in the statement "Ignorance is bliss". Of course, I don't live by that statement, I just believe in it. But it sucks to be half way through a movie (if I'm lucky) and suddenly realize that you have the whole damed thing figured out. Makes the next hour a waste of time. Same ith books. Plus, when you're really smart, you can be good at almost *anything* you decide to do. Which means your choices are nealry infinite. Which means
I think it depends purely on what you believe. If you think you'll rot and cease to be after death, then that's what *will* happen to you. If you believe in heaven or hell, and that you're destined to end up in one or the other, then your mind creates this for you and that's how you sepnd eternity. Same with reincarnation, and all the other possibilities. I believe in the soul, or at least the potential for one. I think it's what seperates us from the other forms of life on this planet.
