I have an odd problem with WB5. If IconX is loaded, WB5 will not apply a wallpaper. If I unload IconX and change Windowblinds, the wallpaper applies. Then if I reload IconX the wallpaper disappears. The only way I can get it back is to go to the WB skin directory and apply the wallpaper with Irfanview. This seems really crazy as I don't know what IconX could have to do with wallpaper. Recently, there seems to be something wrong with the archive function for Windowblinds in Stardock Central. Whether it's done automatically or manually, I always get a 1k zip for Windowblinds that is empty when opened. All other programs that I use archive correctly. I have never had stand alone or free versions installed on this computer (been an Object Desktop subscriber for a long time)
Perhaps you are in "Classic Mode" Right click your taskbar, choose properties, click the Start Menu tab and click "Start Menu" (de-select "Classic Start Menu")

I have spent hours editing the backup.ini to try to force iconpackager to default to the correct icons, but it doesn't seem to use this file for the "standard icons". Yes, you could add it manually. Open the registry with regedit and open HKey_CLASSES_ROOT. Scroll down to icofile\default icon and double click "default" put %1 in the value data. Hopefully that will fix it for you.

I would suggest that you disable them one at a time to see which one is causing you problems. Boot Skins is probably the most likely offender. Good luck.

werewolf, I have never had the exe problem, so this is a guess. Go to HKEY_Classes_Root\.exe and check if the default is "exefile". The go to HKEY_Classes_Root\exefile\DefaultIcon and check if it says "%1" If both of these items are correct, I would then search the backup.ini in the IconPackager directory for a setting for exefile. If you find one, delete it. If you have .exe listed in your custom file types, delete it
I think Software Distribution Services is "Windows Update". If that is correct, probably one of the Microsoft patches caused the problem.
Absolutely, my Dell would feel naked without Windowblinds, Iconpackager, CursorX, IconX and Logon Studio. (I've never used bootskins)
