Jeff, Same here. Every one of these beta builds has SEVERE slowdown when (1)OD+ loading up; (2)Emptying the Norton Protected Files; (3)Installing any new program; (4)Plugging in a removeable disk. Basically any explorer disk activity. My system is WinXP Pro SP2.

Small business may have some choice, but any large business have to go with the big shops. They need the support structure and consistency of the business. Not necessarily true. The large (Fortune 100) company I work for is finally replacing the various Win95 and NT4 boxes with Win2000. Only the laptops have XP. And they are still standardized on Office97! Lets face it, if your apps run on Vista, and the price poin

Moreover I think that it has no analogues in the world! Have you ever checked out AutoIT? It's a scripting language which allows you to create graphical apps which interact with Windows very nicely (much like DesktopX objects with scripting). They can be compiled into exes to protect the source and to not require the AutoIT runtime be installed (much like DesktopX Pro Widgets/Gadgets). And it's free (unlike DesktopX). http://www.autoitscript.com/auto

Daiwa - I ran into a similar problem at work updating 10 of my win2K sp4 servers... 2 of em failed to install a couple of updates from the new MS Update site... My IT guy had to manually download the installers and run them. After that they ran fine. So, check MS's "corporate" update site to try and find stand-alone patches.

Personally, I never understood why they went away from version numbers and hid them behind either years or goofy names. Oh, wait, yes I do - it's so they could charge for a minor revision! (95-->98-->98SE-->Me all windows 4.x), (2000-->XP-->2003 all windows 5.x).

I have not yet warmed up to the new site. (1) I agree with Salvador and others - hiding the galleries (in the list on the left pane of the main screen) I am not interested in really cleaned up the old site. (2) I can't find any way to view prior news articles like the old site had - click on the link "previous news". (3) The whole overall look seems too clinical and bland - I get confused where to look for ANYTHING. (4) And I'm not sure yet if I can c

I'd love to be able to read these articles, but all I get is a wierd ASP error. See below. Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Procedure 'sdnet_GetArticleCommentsList' expects parameter '@AccountTypeID', which was not supplied. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack

Chi Chi (and others): Personally, I still love SysMetrix as a free, skinnable, system monitor that does mail/trash/cpu/network/disk/weather/etc. monitoring. It runs at VERY low CPU/RAM usage, and is stable. To me, DesktopX has always been, and is still, a toy. I run WindowBlinds, WindowFX, and now ObjectDock Plus. And use a few other of my ODNT components. But DesktopX is waay too unstable, with too much CPU/RAM usage when anything is visible (which is the whole point of having it on yo

Brad, I've posted a few times in the newsgroup (stardock.bootskin) about exact BSOD messages and versions which did and did not work. See my post "BSOD with BootScreen Installed" from December 2003, and my reply to "Re: We need your help" from May 2004.

Well, both version 1.05 and 1.05a have the blue screen error 50 with my via chipset laptop that 1.0 had. 1.02 still works fine on my laptop - so whatever you guys did to fix it the first time, put it back in!

Mine runs, but after week 2 got a crash to desktop. WinXP SP1, DX 9.0b, GeForce 3, latest drivers (56.72). Oh, Brad, someone may want to look at the news server... A couple of the game forums got HUUUUGE numbers of posts at 5:45 this evening.
