The big question is will the people who have not upgraded to Vista yet, see this move as a value incentive or not.
Not here for me. I still have too much software that won't run on Vista which I require to perform my job. Plus it's still waaaaayy too expensive for an Operating System. MS should learn their lesson and cut out all of the bloat in Vista that most users either ignore or disable anyway.
I'm not too sure it will be anytime soon as I have foun

Might be time to switch to Comodo's free software (I'm just waiting until the Anti-Virus leaves beta to switch from AVG Free). http://www.comodo.com/products/free_products.html
What ODNT components were promised to you in 1999 that you haven't received? ThinkDesk has had problems completing two key components: ThinkSync and SecureProcess. Windows Vista threw a big wrench in with SecureProcess and ThinkSync is having similar issues with all the network security layers. But Multiplicity and KeepSafe updates are in the pipeline.
Well, at least since 2002, Image Viewer is one component that was mentioned in the 'co
And what happened to the rest of ThinkDesk?
Amen to that! And just stop it with all of this Vista crap and concentrate on finishing/polishing/fixing all of the current, existing Stardock products to work correctly on Windows XP! Let's finally roll out the various ODNT components promised to us back in 1999 that still have not materialized!!
I agree with Fuzzy Logic. I had to pick the last choice, "News - we have news" as there was no "Other" choice. I vote for Stardock news only... and only once/week or so, when there is news to be had! There are already plenty of other sites out there with news. Please keep this a Stardock/skinning site!
We have 3 desktops and one laptop and no network running Wow. C'mon Philly - time to move out of the dark ages! What's the point of having multiple computers in your house if they can't communicate?
Hence I can see no logical reason (other than cost) to wait for SP 1 or 2 before upgrading to Vista. How about the most important one of all - Critical software you use in your job does not have a version which is Supported on Vista yet? I'm personally either waiting until SP2 for Vista, or just plain skipping it for Windows v7. It's been bad enough that MS has been charging an arm and a leg for minor version updates for the past 8 years... Now th
That's just stupid... Not nearly as stupid as paying 5 or 6 hundred dollars for a freakin' PHONE, for crying out loud!
I think the best thing about wikis is that they offer an opportunity for us to build on each other's best work. ... or completely delete it! Sorry, I just don't get wikis. If somebody has an issue with information I've (or any author) posted, they email me (or any webmaster) and lets the author know about it. And then the author can change it. If you give anybody the ability to add and change information out there, how can ANYONE trust anything they read
I haven't been able to get a feed, on any of 3 PCs at home or at work, since last Wed. or Thurs. Before that, I did not have any problems updating. And, all other internet-connected stuff works fine, so I'm 99.9% certain it's not a firewall issue, or connectivity on my end.
OpusCroakus: Yes, ThinkSync will work with those three types of synchronizations you specified, as Orange_Radiance specified. This would actually be a perfect set up for you since ThinkSync currently allows a maximum of three jobs. These jobs may include any location of your choosing (local, attached, network) for either the primary or secondary. The license covers installation on one machine and a second machine ONLY if you are the main user on this (laptop or work
jennybean, thanks for replying. I had missed that screenshot, as the thinkdesk apps page only has detailed pages on multiplicity and keepsafe. And those pages have screenshots for those apps, and links to more (at least multiplicity does). However, that one little screenshot for thinksync doesn't really answer my question(s) about the details of the functionality/features of thinksync. GoodSync seems to be a good product in this market. I've been using their free version for a good 6 m
Who cares what large corporations want to do? How does that effect the decision of an every day PC user looking to upgrade to Vista? IT DOESNT. And of course large businesses will not upgrade immediatly, such is the case with EVERY OS! All I'm trying to point out is that there are a LOT of us users who work for a large corporation, and therefore have our OS's dictated to us. I'm just offering a point of view here. <DIV
Wow. Not a single reply? Nothing from the current beta testers. Nothing from sales. Very disappointing.
Sorry for the double-post
Is Vista a worthwhile OS for the enterprise? Hell no. System requirements are far too steep for most medium to large organizations, since most of their machines are probably 3+ years old, recycled from employee to employee, and loaded with the bare-essentials to begin with. Vista represents a greater cost beyond simply purchasing OS licenses. The advantages Vista offers over XP are not compelling enough to an enterprise environment to justify bu
I'm frustrated, trying to get more details about the design and workings of ThinkSync. There are no screenshots, or product page, on the ThinkDesk section of Stardock's site. And, no demo to download. I have been using GoodSync to keep several copies of my files in sync between my laptop and my home desktop and server. See http://www.goodsync.com/ for details on that product. It seems to be a very good product; I've been using it too much, however, to keep using the free version, and will n
Gotcha. Alright thanks for the info. I'll see if there's something I can do Wow!!! 1.90 release appears to even fix this! You ARE the MAN. Thanks!!
Jeff B, you ARE the MAN! This release even fixes the hangup issue I've had with emptying the Norton Protected recycle bin!!! New per-icon backgrounds look nice, and a bunch of other new tweaks too, I see.
WinCustomize needs to have content that changes every day, to make the page new, fresh and a worthwhile spot for people to check out every day. Ahh, well. That's just the point, to me. I don't visit here every day, as there aren't enough Stardock-related news stories usually. I visit enough other sites for other computer-related news stories.
The only news I really want to read here is Stardock related.
And it seems like at least one manufacturer has seen the light! It's not so much that I dislike Vista (even though I do... I believe it is a severely overpriced, feature bloated, DRM-infested pig). It's that the applications which I require to perform my job do not, and will not, support r
Yes, the more full, the longer the wait. Even with only a hundred or so files, though, there *is* a wait. This happens on both my main desktop and my laptop systems. Both XP Pro SP2. Both Norton SystemWorks 2006 (but may have happened with earlier versions). Laptop is OD+ 1.5 release, Desktop is OD+ latest beta. I'm not sure if it would happen the same way using just the regular Recycle Bin, as I usually Shift-Delete to bypass the regular Recycle Bin, since I have NU installed.
Amen, KarmaGirl! I just want my phone to be... umm.. oh, yeah. A phone! I don't want it to me a music player - I've already got one of those. I don't want it to be a camera - I've already got one of those. I don't want it to be a game device - I have multiple computers, and a few games on my Palm for that. I don't want to browse the web on my phone - I have a hard enough time seeing things on my computer screen, let alone trying to view things on a 2" LCD screen. Just let me make a call,
Looks good so far, on the reboot after installing. Mouse lag is gone. Wincustomize link actually goes to Wincustomize.com, not my browser's home page. Still same issue as has been around since at least 1.50, however. When I empty the Norton Protected Files, OD just freezes for a minute or more. Does not update, and mouse has hourglass cursor if I move it over the dock. This is for a while, ev
