This actually looks more like a CPU problem than a WB problem.
Yeah, they will tell me that it's an application problem.
Neil actually said..
It is possible WB is exposing a flaw in the power saving driver
(my emphasis) so there's not likely a problem with the actual hardware rather the (software) driver that controls it. A bug in software? certainly likely I would've thought...
Yep... you and Neil must be right. 50 billion applications out there in the world and SD's "Perfect App" exposes a flaw in AMD's processor design.
You might want to re-read Neil's comments & reply #26 above - he wonders if the power saving driver may have a flaw that has been exposed, not that AMD's processor design is the problem. Neil is also eminently qualified to hold an opinion and is hardly blowing you off - SD are attempting to replicate the problem.

Daiwa, I, for one, have found you pleasent and helpful. Thanks for being a member of the community.
initiatedsean441, You have been around long enought to form your own opinion of the people here, but I do wonder why you have never seen or choosen to comment on Daiwa's use of "Cheers" as a closing before now. A quick check shows she's been using it at least since July 2004: http://groups.google.com/group/stardock.windowblinds/browse_thread/thread/8285e30cbd867a6/4031a59a55fe6212?lnk=st&q=cheers+daiwa+site%3Awincustomize.com&rnum=142&hl=en#4031a59a55fe6212
Try to remember that textual communication does not always communicate the nuances of the spoken word. It's better to error on the side of positive relations.
Let's just hope that Neil's tests are successful with the new Laptop and the problem is resolved quickly.
(Cheers omitted for fear of offense)

p.s. For the record, I have a Y chromosome.
Che... oops.

Since I don't want anyone to take my remarks personally (if I disagree with someone, it's about ideas expressed or positions taken, with the rare exception of folks who are deliberately insulting or intentionally offensive), I virtually always sign off with Cheers, regardless of context - force of habit. Cheesy, perhaps, but there ya go.

Wow, quite the development in this thread. Anyway, I didn't get a refund, nor did I ask for one directly to Neil. I like WB5, just wish a couple of issues would hurry up and get solved for me. Aside from the expansion arrows on my Favorites (items, not folders), taskbar graphs stopping when clicked (when using PerPixle skins), no skinning of the console window, and the CPU speed maxing issues I have no other problems that I can see. Like I've stated... I've seen 11 updates to WB5 (all beta) and none of them have resolved or even involved a fix for the problems I've listed. Just seems like SD isn't too concerned about these issues... that's all. To me they are major problems because to me the program is not flawless in respect to how WB4.6 was (at least flawless in my uses of it). Hope that makes better sense to everyone.
Oh and here's a
for everyone.
Your list of "flaws" would be enough for me to rid myself of it & stick w 4.6, which is what I have done - and yes the 4.6 does work flawlessly & does add to the appeal, enjoyment & functionality of my lap - it would seem 5 was rushed to release too soon - once perfected it will move the 'state of the art' of interface to a higher level - FX hasn't had an update since last Spring & it too has some bugs - DX is perfect the way it is - wish the developers would perfect what has already been released;feedback from the Forum dictating rather than working on 'Games' but perhaps they need to to draw new market - & Daiwa;thx for the contextual explanation - yes, its all good here as well.
I can see why Jafo is necessary to keep the vicious & uncivilized in line - a mod inspiring fear like that is akin to a bouncer in a 'hot', 'where it's at' bar
I hardly think I 'inspire fear'...but at times we [the mods] are a necessary evil. Now and then people can tend to get a wee bit feral and Lord-of-the-flies-ish, so it helps to have someone there to whack heads, slit nostrils and utilise their size tens as suppositories....
Strangely, I've never thought of 'cheers' as 'arrogant'....probably because I use it myself...though in Professional letters it's often "I await your favourable response..."
Sometimes the suggestive closure works....
(You scare ME Paul........)

Beautifully summed up in an original Australian way lol...do remember that if certain salutations are used in the wrong context they can incite insult...that's why professionals who travel overseas must study the customs & jargon of the country 1rst to prevent something so unfortunate - & you are too right about the suggestive closure
Nor do I believe they are properly communicating their findings (if they expose a flaw) to the developers of the drivers or hardware of what the WB5 core engine depends on. (i.e. if they find WB5 exposes an issue with a graphics driver or chipset, I don't think they actually call the maker of said chipset or driver and push them to make the corrections.)
You'd be wrong on that score, though you can argue forever about what constitutes "properly". They've been pushing nVidia for years to optimize their drivers' 2D support, to fully enable WindowFX's transition features in particular. Through no fault of Stardock's, nVidia hasn't followed through, since you are quite correct - the only market they care about is the 3D gaming market. Rather unfair to hold SD responsible - we should be complaining to the video driver makers (I have, repeatedly) in order to get some of that "grease", though I'm not optimistic they'll do anything to address their 2D deficiencies. Even ATI, which has had excellent 2D support for a long time, has managed to screw up 2D with some of the recent Catalyst releases.
Cheers,
Daiwa
