Help!! WB is messing up my computer!! (with screenshots)

Help!! WB is messing up my computer!! (with screenshots)

I don't know what to do anymore... I tried everything!

I have been using WB5 for about 4 days now and I haven't gotten any types of errors, whatsoever, up until a few hours ago.. I didn't even do a thing! I was using Mormegil's ChristmasTime theme (and ran it for 4 days without errors), then when I decided to come to WinCustomize.com to browse for new Objects and such, my computer hung up on me! I don't know if that had anything to do with my visiting wincustomize.com, but it couldn't have been a virus or a spyware because I just performed a general maintenance on my computer a few hours earlier (and I have been doing that since January).. Then I restarted my computer using the button on my CPU and when I entered my Windows XP account, the entire "start" bar below (the whole thing, not just the start button, but the entire bar -- sorry, i have no idea what it's called) didn't even show up! The only thing that showed up was the digital clock, and that's it.. Ok, hold on.. I don't know where I'm going anymore. I think it's better if I just show you a screenshot and maybe you can just help me out and tell me what's wrong (also, I tried uninstalling+re-installing WB5, but apparently, that didn't fix my problem)..

http://tinypic.com/ionkf5.jpg

That's my whole screen.. No "start button" and the entire "bar" at the bottom of the screen is messed up! WB also got rid of my Windows XP theme.. I tried accessing through desktop/right-click/bah blah but then that didn't work.. all it's showing me is nothing (sorry, I'm really, really sleepy and i have been trying to fix this problem since 5 PM (and now it's about (9:00).. so, that should explain why my grammar is skewed. i haven't even eaten yet!) I tried righ clicking on "My Computer" and going to "Manage" / "Services" / etc. (as one poster explained in another thread), but that didn't work -- it didn't bring my Windows XP theme back..

Please help me! I am totally clueless about what's going on! And once again, excuse the grammar. I'm typing this up real fast because I'm about to collapse.. I really hope you guys can help me! Please!

Moderator Note:

This issue is caused by the cracked version of WindowBlinds.  Don't run the cracked version of WindowBlinds and this won't happen.

Now that you cost Neil more than the price of software to support your illegal copy, dontcha think you owe it to him to at least purchase it?

After uninstalling programs, reboot, clean your registry of all entries related to the program. Reboot, then install the full program.

Note: Not all reg cleaners, including some of the best like RegSeeker, get all the entries...do a search for the software...but be careful as to what you find, where you find it, and make sure you back it up in case you need it. You can back up individual files, or the entire registry before beginning.

@Link....yeah, a restart doesn't always clear everything. Especially from RAM. Only a cold boot does that.

I fixed it.

Pirated copies is not the culprit.

I had this same problem, but I am currently using the shareware version.

Uninstall (you will need to go into safe mode for this, as your computer is totally mucked up). Reboot normally.

Go to START > RUN and type "regedit". Click on EDIT > Find and type in "stardock".

Delete all the keys with "stardock" in the name. Press F3 and it will find more stardock keys. Delete them all. Keep doing this untill it says "Finished searching registry".

Re-install and re-boot. Works like a charm now!

Yes.. at first i thought it was the windows update.. but then i decided to uninstall my warez version and buy a copy instead
everything worked fine after that
it's only 19.95.. certainly worth the money.

I will say it again.  Trial versions cannot do this.

I have a trial right here and its skinning perfectly.

This can only happen if you downloaded a copy of our software illegally (copyright infringement) and installed a crack to bypass the activation system (illegal)

I recently installed a crack version of this and experienced explorer crashing on occassions plus few other problems. Could you clarify before I purchase this software, that this is a problem with just the warez version and not the full version. Thanks

I also encounter this problem since today...It seems that it is the software problem

Hope stardock can fix it~!

I am not running a warez copy of WindowBlinds. I paid to renew the whole Object Desktop suite and installed from fresh installation of Object Desktop. Let the installer update to Window Blinds 5. The program ran fine and without a hitch. Until I installed some Windows Updates. I can list the updates I installed, because I installed them manually. I do not like running Windows Update, not because I do not like Microsoft wanting to install updates automatically on my computer. Anyway, The "Start Bar" or whatever you want to call it will not load properly when I turn my computer on and log in. The start button and the time are separated from where the tasks are on the screen. It is also part black and part grey. Here is the System Information screen from Window Blinds:

I do not have the Windows Firewall enabled, but I am running Panda Titanium 2006 Antivirus and Antispyware. Whenever any program would ask to access the system, I would enable it only if I knew where the program came from and if I initiated that request. Every piece of software that needs access to my system for what legitimate reasons has access to the system. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I uninstalled Panda Antivirus and this appears to have cleared up my issue with WindowBlinds. I was only running a trial version. I guess I should have mentioned that. Anyway, now that I have removed the "trial" version of Panda Antivirus, WindowBlinds appears to work correclty again. It is now skinning my "Start Bar" again. Just thought everyone would want to know that it is now working and that it appears to be my Antivirus program that was causing the problem. Now to go buy a valid and better antivirus program. AVG sounds good to me.

Neil, I understand what you are saying in this, but this is not always the case. This was happening to me and I am running a legitimate copy of WindowBlinds, and well, Object Desktop. I am a paying customer. Now, some of these people that posted here, were in fact using illegal copies of WindowBlinds. I am using a legal version of WindowBlinds. The culprit was my Antivirus software and the interaction between it and WindowBlinds.

In the computer world there are too many variables in place to give such a definite answer as, This can only happen if you downloaded a copy of our software illegally (copyright infringement) and installed a crack to bypass the activation system (illegal).

I love your software and have been using it legitimately for quite some time.

Crash180: Was the taskbar the only thing which painted incorrectly?

Did other apps work ok?
