Spin to fast

Ships and planets go fast

Hi all..

Wasn't there a search option here ?

Any way.. Haven't seen anybody mentioning this before but.

Sometimes, either straight after beginning or later in the game, the ships and planets start rotating like crazy.. (Not on the map tho, just in in starbase screens and planet screens).. Sometimes it gets back to normal but most of the time a reboot fixes is (that is, shutdown -> restart not exiting the game and start again..)

Also, when that starts to happen I sometimes get a super fast off the main map.. Either when tryimg to get to the menu button or the end turn button.. Map coordinates are then so far of it doesn't fit on screen anymore.

Now it seems my keyboard has a few problems (Sometimes calculator just pops up, or some other weird thing, it must be the keyboard as it happend on 2 different PC's... and at that 4 different installs (2 per PC..) I'm unaware of any keyboard shortcuts for Gal Civ 2 tho..

As for specs, currently running on a Asus A8N-E, AMD64 4400 X2 2GB ram and a Geforce 7800.. WindowsXP 32 bit tho...

Ok.. Beta4 up and running... Great stuff !

I experienced a few of the same bugs as allready reported (CTD when clicking a uncolonized plantet)..

But weird thing, the spin to fast still happens.. Nobody else having this ? Keyboard has been replaced and no other weird problems with other programs or games...

A reboot fixes it so I doubt sending a save game is going to help ?

Well, it also effects the space battles.. Hm.. Even after reinstalling the drivers and Beta4 it still happens.

Hi Seer,

My config is AMD X2 4800+, nVidia Geforce 7800 GTX, MSI KN8 Neo Platinum 4, XP 64 bit

I am also getting this problem, although it only happened after i up'd the graphics settings in the GallCiv II Config screen. I will continue to test what causes this

Hi Karail,

I was getting ready to just email the crew about it. It happened in Beta 3 as well but in B3 I could play for a long time before it happened. It mostly happened after a CTD tho. With Beta 4 it happens almost everygame.. (Note I haven't had much time yet...)

Only thing I upped was the AA to 4x. I'll try it without it.

I have the same issue, my CPU is AMD X2 3800+

Changing the affinity to only one CPU seems to solve the issue for me.

We're going to look into this...looks like it may definatly be an issue with the 2 processors

I don't think you guys had time to look into it yet but it seems to be worse in the latest beta. (0.77[b].009)

For those having similar problems and want to test other aspects without super rotating try out imagecfg
http://www.robpol86.com/Pages/imagecfg.php and as Capt. Chaos suggested set the exe to use only 1 CPU.

I use it on a copy of the exe works good. Tho the rotating is a bit less smooth. (Hm.. Should try to get it to use the second core..)

It's a driver problem with dual core CPUs.
