She disguises her self, runs off to New Mexico, causes police to mount a manhunt (womanhunt?), and throws her fiance into a questionable light (He killed her!).

And then, after saying she was kidnapped, Jennifer Wilbanks (Wilburn Sir Petey?) says I am sorry. Heheehe. It was only a joke.

Ok, she had her laugh.  But now her jilted beau says he still wants to marry her!

This guy is some catch for you single ladies! (mignuna, he may not make tea, but he will definitely keep you satisified!).

He is either certifiably insane, or the next saint to be canonized!

He is a better man than I, Charlie Brown.  I hope he is not burned again.

I wouldnt marry a lady that's for sure!! But i think the saying 'love is blind' comes to mind when you read this. It makes you accept anything when you're in love.

It's crazy!

Mod, if it was you the man, would you marry her? Even if she had a lot of money?

As MasonM said, it might be stupidity. It might be blind love. It might be money. And it might be a trip to the padded rooms too!

Ok, NJ. Mod and I are old farts. You are younger (married?). Would you do that to defy your parents?

BTW, before answering, I did not only because my parents did nto object (altho they hated my ex!).

Of course not. But I'm a bit "out there" in my age group. And I am a little too young to be married.

You are over 18. You are not too young. Maybe a bit too wise, but not too young!

throw me in a padded cell in the same hospital, cause I think he's doing the right thing.  If he loves her, and already planned to spend the rest of his life w/ her, then how would this change the way he feels?  Sure she made a mistake, or a series of mistakes, and sure it was a VERY poor decision... but at the end of the day, she's still the same person, warts (and mistakes) n all.

cold feet are cold feet... aren't we all entitled to a mistake or two?

*laughs at Shovel*

I don't know...I think you're right...the guy's a saint. Either that or he's so horribly malformed or has the world's tiniest equipment that no one else will take him.

But I highly doubt that's the case.

She's over 30. If she doesn't want to get married in front of a huge crowd, and this whole thing was planned by parents, etc., I can see where she'd be totally terrified or whatever. That's when you run to the courthouse and get it done there or just freakin elope, you know? She's an adult, and she did the totally wrong thing. She needed to say, either to her parents or her fiancee, "You know, this big wedding thing just isn't for me...I'm sorry if that hurts, but...I just can't deal with it that way." That's what big girls do.

Beyond that...I hope that there are some charges pressed against her, or she should at least have to pay restitution to all the law enforcement agencies she pulled a fast one on.

It's like Runaway Bride meets Scott Peterson or something. What a dingaling!

Sure. But then again, when making a decision that will affect the rest of your life, would you trust her?

I am not saying lock her up. I am saying I would put the wedding on hold for a year or 2 (at least) and make sure she did not get cold feet again.

Exactly! Even when she ran away, she could have called the poor dope and told him so instead of making up the story of a kidnapping.

I dunno, I tend to think this story kind of fed itself. There's no law against running like hell from a wedding, and if her town spent a ton of cash it was because they over-reacted.

I believe in a fast response, don't get me wrong, but you don't start setting up coffee stations and looking for bodies that soon. Hell, it doesn't seem to matter why, the town is still mulling over making her responsible for the cost, even though her "kidnapping" excuse came AFTER the expense. Evidently she'd be responsible if she had just admitted to leaving on a whim, the expense would be there either way.

Who knows what any of us would do if we found out we were the biggest story on Fox News, and that we might be liable for a manhunt. It might feel just as insane to say "oops, wandered off for a bit.", especially if you know that a whole town is probably gonna want your head for making doofs out of them. Even though they made doofs of themselves.
