Need help with Openoffice

I have been using Openoffice and I have a question.

On my dock I have a shortcut to openoffice, but it only opens the general interface, then I have to select text document, spreadsheet, etc.

Does anybody know a way to directly link to open the text editor?

What I have done is drag the shortcut from the Start menu onto my dock. Then each icon opens the specific type. I have writer, calculator (spreadsheet), presentation and drawing. Alternatively in the Object Properties dialog add the following in the "Arguments" entry line:

-writer
-calc
-impress
-draw
-web

For text, spreadsheets, presentations, drawing, and HTML editing, respectively. Did that make any sense?

That's the one thing I didn't think of. I was trying to find a specific file in the openoffice folder, but it works differently than other programs.

I did what you said and it works. Thanks for the help.

No problem. Always happy to help out someone, especially with Open Office. I think it is a great software suite and use it pretty much exclusively now.
